Lately, I’ve been in the mood to listen some new pop punk music so I decided to give a random album a shot. I wanted to like this, I really did. The problem with Austin Mahone is a problem shared by many of the pretty-boy singers of his era. He completely lacks his own voice. This album gave me whiplash in the worst way possible. Every song sounds like it belongs to a different artist. Some songs are reminiscent of the 2000’s party synth, like Usher, some evoke the boy band sound of *NSYNC, while others contain the more stripped back acoustic sound of Cody Simpson.
