This is the first album I hear from musicians Years & Years. I will confess that I went into this album expecting more than what I got out of it, considering it’s AOTY critics score. Personally, I think this was a little catchier than I expected for a sophisti-pop record. Good, crisp production and acceptable songwriting are basically what this album is all about. Not a bad project by any means. Mitski has the range of Chris Kyle with a sniper. For someone who released two albums prior, this honestly felt like Mitski’s most focused album at that point in her career. Someone who’s dedicated to her craft, Mitski deserves praise and recognition for her focused and layered work on her third project, “Bury Me at Makeout Creek”.

However, this album also utilizes an appropriate assortment of minimalistic moments that allow the listener to reflect on the true radiancy and multi-dimensional ability of this project. With a good use of its guests, “Negro Swan” is a masterfully crafted project that stands as ... read more

I love Mitski. The sounds on this project will slap the skin off your cheeks. Good shit, garunteed. I only wish the tracks on this project felt like they belonged on the same project.

Now, had I only heard this album once or twice through I think I would of respected the overall aesthetic of the album. However, upon individual track inspection, I felt as if my initial opinion of this album shifted a bit. I won’t knock on the awesome instrumentation or Bradford Cox’s powerhouse vocals. Songwriting however, was a weak point to the album although it certainly didn’t take too much out of the easy-going, indie manifest that “Halcyon Digest” turned ... read more

Looks like you continue to discredit rap in your ratings. There's a word for that but I'll leave it up to you to decide what word that is.
