Tight

"Tight" for lack of a better word is a conflicting debut from Mindless Self Indulgence, in many ways it just feels like Frankenstein Girls-lite, the pieces for that absolute mess of an album are certainly there but the band hasn't glued (or pissed) it all together just yet. It's a lot of ideas thrown at the wall to see what sticks, the best material here I feel hits that same itch of impossible to get out of your head jamming that Frankenstein Girls does for me, but the worst stuff here... Holy shit is it fucking bad.

To highlight my main point of inconsistency with this album, the first half is back to back some of the best material the group has ever put out. It is actually impressive how you get Grab The Mic followed by Bring the Pain (an amazing cover of an already amazing song) followed by my favorite song about being a frustrated homosexual, Tight. Which is then followed up by Diabolical and Molly, and top 3 MSI song Tornado. You may think, man this is a high bar you started off with! Where are we going from here? And then Daddy follows Tornado up and it's all downhill from there.

There is way too much filler here, yes, FILLER on a 31 MINUTE album. As a matter of fact half of this album feels unfinished, I admittedly do feel a tad embarrassed for liking stupid joke songs like Pussy All Night and Apple Country considering they're instrumentally paper thin and flat as A4 shitposts but other than those songs that B side is fucking GRIM here.

Dickface, Bite Your Rhymes and ESPECIALLY the closer are some of the worst songs they've ever put out as a band. It crosses the line into just being fucking annoying and unbareable for me which I feel they always do a good job tiptoeing the line with their usual material. Speaking of the closer, fucking christ it's awful. JX-47 is 3 agonizing minutes of Steve singing in a silly child with down syndrome impression, don't take that short 3 minute length as a joke because each second stuck listening to it feels like 5.

Is it an infinitely weaker, more scatterbrained version of Frankenstein Girls? Yes. Do I fucking love Frankenstein Girls? Yes! And the first half is undeniable enough to put this anywhere near the reds or even yellows. They got way way better from here.
