This album is pleasant musically. I don't often pay attention to lyrics too much, but they do seem to be not the greatest.
Many nostalgic tracks, but the album can be rather samey and repetitive.
Shoot Your Shot and Native Love sound alright, but the rest of the album just felt rather mediocre.
The Normal Album is an album full of twists and turns, it starts with piano heavy songs in a doo-wop-like style that get more energetic as they play. During the album there are a few songs that are softer to have a break from the chaos of the album and by the end of the album, it's like you've been on a wild ride. I enjoy this album fully and consider it one of my favorite albums.
I found this album from Robert Dimery's "1001 Albums You Must Hear" series of books and I fell in love with it.
It is the last album that Elliott Smith released, and it is full of really calm songs and also some soft rock tracks with each song being great in its own way.
