Finally, after waiting for so long to get this out after ensuring that I'm done with her long-awaited sophomore.
This was such a ride. She was in control of the things going on here.
From the get-go, you know she's getting you hooked on what she has to say - she wants you to listen, she makes you listen, she does not force you to listen.
Getting you engaged to the album is an important move for the artist as you need them to sit through your entire body of work, and boy - she does not play. The first three track run is absolutely gorgeous, especially "Love Galore". Goodness, it was really good, an earworm.
Let me get into the 100s, "Love Galore" is catchy, smooth, and that Travis feature makes it much better as if the song's already not at its best if you were to have SZA soloing herself through the song.
"Drew Barrymore"? A classic. That's what it is. A classic.
"The Weekend", a groovy track. The production is putting you through a trance of sonics after getting you engaged through the listening sessions - perfection.
"Normal Girl", this is my favourite by miles. Listening to this again makes me so happy, though contextually it's about self-loathing. It's not wrong to enjoy some of that self-loath occasionally, right? Have some fun though your source of fun is depressing - it's fun.
Overall, this was a solid project. Even though the end of the album is where in my opinion, starts to take a slight decline - it does not disregard any quality that this album has to offer.
