The Home Team - The Crucible of Life
97

I listened to all of the singles and was surprised and honestly impressed with everything they had done in one way or another. I've enjoyed a lot of their songs but this is my first THT release and I'm happy to be here! This is a really great album, and this will be my 2nd time listening to it through all the way. Turn You Off, upon first listen, wasn't my favorite. It still just feels okay to me even though I do really enjoy some parts of it. Others just kind of fall flat to me, ... read more

Jazmin Bean - Traumatic Livelihood
82

Coming into this album as someone who used to listen to Jazmin Bean, and music's taste has changed a lot since then. I hadn't heard any of the singles except maybe Favourite Toy a while ago. The only thing I know about this album is it's a change of pace from their other work. Traumatic Livelihood is an interesting opener, and a pretty nice title track. Piggie is such an interesting song and I love Jazmin's take on the subject. Favourite Toy leaves a lasting impression. Terrified is a very ... read more

Arm's Length - What's Mine Is Yours
90

This EP is 4 songs long. It doesn't overstay it's welcome in the slightest, but god, it's fantastic. I'm eating it up as I'm typing this. Each time I come back to this EP and remember the lineup of it, I remember just how insane it is that this is the band's first EP. Arm's Length has not made a bad song, and I stand by that. Every song is a highlight. Fucking fantastic.

Arm's Length - Arm's Length
99

It feels like a re-telling of blank slate. Arm's Length is back at it with crushing my heart and soul in every way possible and I eat it up every time. This shit is so clean-sounding, and I love her. Arm's Length is Arm's Length is Arm's Length's Arm's Length. What do you want me to say?? SHE'S BEAUTIFUL.

Arm's Length - Up In Smoke
99

Arm's Length just always hits the nail on the coffin for me. I adore this band, and I absolutely love this single. I can't wait to see what they do next, because they're just fantastic. I mean everything about this song just feels incredible to me. The chorus feels so meaningful and large. Every part of this song is so good. I can't stop listening to it, someone free me from my enclosure.

DE'WAYNE - SIMPLE
75

I always forget this song exists until I listen to it again on my boyfriend's playlist. Something about this song just works. The verses are extremely good, and I just love De'Wayne's voice and Dallon's feature adds so much to the song. Not usually crazy about "nanana" choruses, but this song has me completely ignoring that part of it in favor of how good the rest of the song feels.

WSTR - Filthy
70

My boyfriend introduced this song to me a while ago, and it's undeniably a fun time. It's very playful and witty. As much as I'm not a fan of "nanana" stuff, this somehow works for me. It's a good time.

The Home Team - Brag
75

This song is pretty solid. The pre-chorus and chorus are so fun and just agh, this band has choruses nailed. The verses are alright. The bridge is so good I'm gonna be real. The production, like with Loud, is clean. This album is going to be really good, I can already tell.

The Home Team - Loud
80

This song is so fun, the chorus feels big & is just such a good time. Verse 2 does fall a little flat for me, but god I just can't ignore that chorus, that shit is so energetic and fun. The outro is pretty cool too, I guess.

Wallows - Your Apartment
95

God, I was so excited for new Wallows music. I'm so so happy this exceeded my expectations for it too. THIS SHIT IS FIREEEE!!!!! I have nothing else to say except damn this song is so good I can't wait for more, everything Wallows puts out is phenomenal.

I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME - GLOOM DIVISION
83

I rated all the singles individually, and my opinions have changed on them slightly. But, let's get started. The opening track, DOWNSIDE is such a fun song, in my opinion. I love the lower tone Dallon uses during the song. The chorus is incredibly catchy, and I think the entire song works really well. My favorite lyric in the song is probably,"And when I die, I'll get those cold copper kisses on my eyes." Love a good reference to Ancient Greek practices. At first it was a 4, but on ... read more

Bouquet - Cardinal
95

Absolutely beautiful post-hardcore masterpiece. Every song feels like a highlight, the "low" point being Tire Swing for me. Even the "low" is a high to me on this EP, and all I mean by that is it's probably the song I listen to the least on it. But even then, it's still significant and feels a lot bigger to me than some other work from 2021. Every song they release, and have continued to release since this EP feels meticulously put out so that they don't have a single flaw ... read more

I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME - INFATUATION
75

Infatuation's music video scares the shit out of me, but the song itself is almost hypnotic. I keep going back to listen to it because I love the way Dallon's voice flows during the verses, it's so odd. The chorus is a little bit underwhelming feeling, but most of it is fun and just a good time. The lyrics are pretty good. I don't know, I'm just not as crazy about it as I'd like to be, but I do keep going back to listen to it, so my opinion will probably change.

I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME - GLOOMTOWN BRATS
65

Gloomtown Brats feels fun. It sounds like a rich girl in gloomtown seducing me and i'm not mad about it at all. In general, the sounds in the song just feel rich. The mixing isn't the best, but I'm not too upset about it. The melody of the bridge sounds fun, but the lyrics kind of let me down for some reason, and so does the sound during it... idk why :( I really wanted to love this song, and I do like it, it's just a bit underwhelming after What Love.

I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME - WHAT LOVE?
80

My favorite single out of the ones released so far, the vibes are immense. Everything about this song feels fun and brand new for IDKHOW, and I just love the atmosphere the song gives. I always want to dance to it tbh... anyway, it's a really fun time and Dallon shows off his vocal skills like usual, and idk the whole song just works. I wasn't crazy about it at first, but it's definitely grown on me.

Taylor Swift - Speak Now (Taylor's Version)
83

Tapping into my inner cowboy again. I'm reviewing all the Taylor Swift albums in order, and I refuse to stream the og so I'm doing the TV (: This is where we *start* getting into more familiar territory, I listened to Speak Now TV when it came out with my boyfriend, and I really liked the og Speak Now songs I had heard before then, so I guess I'm just revisiting it technically. This is probably my favorite Taylor Swift album, so, let's do it. Mine is such a cute song imo, I like that it doesn't ... read more

Taylor Swift - Fearless (Taylor's Version)
69

Here we go, trying to tap into my inner cowboy again. Just so y'all know, this is my first time listening to the entire Fearless album, and I thought I'd listen to TV instead because I know my boyfriend would hate it if I listened to the og, and I don't really want to. Anyway, here we go. Fearless is okay, kinda catchy, I'll be honest, it's a bit of a banger first track, 3.5. Fifteen, it definitely captures the feeling of being 15 and I don't really care for it, I can see the appeal of it ... read more

Taylor Swift - Taylor Swift
27

really tried hard to find my inner cowboy while listening to this album. Tim McGraw kinda sucks, I'm going to be honest. I tried really hard to like it.. it's a 1, I'm going to be honest. Picture To Burn is such a fun time, 100% feel like a supportive cowboy while listening to this song. 4.5 tbh. Teardrops On My Guitar is alright. I have no idea who Drew is though. The chorus is pretty catchy, 2.5. A Place in this World is okay-ish. FATHER WHEN CAN I LEAVE TO BE ON MY OWNNN vibes, 1.5. Cold As ... read more

Heart Attack Man - Freak Of Nature
90

Pop Punk Perfection.
Practiced In The Mirror is my personal favorite on the album, which uh might be an L take to some people but I don't care. It's not "the best" song on the album, but it's the truest to itself imo, and god I'm a sucker for acoustic vibes and just how HUGE it sounds during the chorus. In love with that song. Freak Of Nature, the first single and title track, was fucking ground-breaking to me when it first released. With it's incredibly catchy chorus, memorable ... read more
