This album tricks you. First 3 songs are good(ish). And then it blows a hole in your skull with track 4. The rest of the album is just ups and downs of, “this isn’t so bad” to “this is boring” and occasionally it sounds like he’s actively trying to make his music a joke. I’m fairly certain the songs of this album were made over a long time where quad was quickly improving. This means there are some great songs on this, but also many songs that feel kinda juvenile. Not that I know what I’m talking about. Some lyrics are just sickening. This album has such a distinctive sound to it. A very warped and glitched soundscape that just works perfectly for it. Blows my mind that just the year before he did FMTY. Perhaps he really did die and that allowed him to make such a crazy switch in sound. I don’t think I could really pick a favourite of quads last 3 albums bc it feels wrong to say this is my least favourite. Lots of emotion and rich production and instrumentation. Bars are crazy. Quad is crazy. Have my children.

I think it’s really funny that quad loves doing concept albums but the one that isn’t is his most critically acclaimed ”critically acclaimed”. Though I do think there is an overall theme of a bad relationship ruining other parts of life. But the songs are afraid to split off from that thinking.
