Not bad at all, but it just feels overrated for I feel is just beatdown grindcore or whatever
Puts the MATH back into MATHCORE, if you're in it for the djenty deathcore shit this is NOT for you
Basic blah blah blah flaws: It's too shoooooort and the few tracks we get are so loooooong waaaaah!!!!!
It's still a pretty neat album, Civeta Dei might be the absolute pinnacle of Screamo Metalcore Mathcore whatever box you wanna fit this shit into.
I live in the prairies so the theming of the album sits right at home with me, while I nap in my rocking chair, and it looks at the fields right in front of us and acknowledges that this is where it belongs. Regardless, I'm glad that AOTY agrees that this goes harder than their debut, at least rhythmically. Rosy Red Glasses still goes insanely hard and is much mathier and grindier than this, but I honestly prefer how mellow Nuclear can be at times.
Also, the instrumental section of An ... read more
"Joes Dooks His Shorts" having a 62 is fucking criminal, it's genuinely such a good breakdown. Rest of the album fucks hard too of course.
Sounds like you took sludge, math, and grind and put them in a blender while they're still ice cold. My absolute favorite
Pretty much my introduction into mathcore, I still remember when I first tried listening to this and how bad of a migraine it gave me after only 3 tracks because I couldn't for the life of me tell what the fuck was going on. Now that I'm used to it I will admit that it's a bit bland at times
Could've been a 90 had they used Genocide Jack for the cover instead of just long tongue Toko, Big difference.
Insanely groovy, I'd go so far as to say this is better than cuddlemonster Although I doubt that's even controversial to say in the first place
I have the ambient tracks set as ringtones for my ma and pa, that's how good they are. The only track I can really think of that I enjoy more than the intermissions is this album's version of "Peter Jennings", felt way more abrasive than its Loss counterpart
I don't think a single week has gone by without me thinking of mahciu. I legitimately can't think of a single track from them (besides the demos from the epilogue comp) that doesn't hit hard and this album is no exception. If I could recommend my favourite albums without being flogged by sugarcanes this one would be the first every single damn time
Piano tracks at the end are magnificent but besides that the album is... Alright.
Despite being pretty much an extension of CI I find myself enjoying this one much more.
