i-dle - I SWAY

Klaxon is not Queencard or even Tomboy but it IS a fun little ass shaker. (G)I-DLE continue with their recent trend of fun, unserious summertime music and I’m here for it. The b-sides fall a bit flat for me as all 3 of them sit on the slower side with no real change in tempo but Klaxon is a great number.

Solid comeback. ABCD ranks ever so slightly lower than Pop, but not by much. It’s a strong title track with heavy 2000s R&B influenced that displays Nayeon’s growth and maturity as a woman and artist but doesn’t fully shy away from the cute, bubbly image she started with in 2016’s debut and maintained throughout the years. This is getting a lot of hate but I’d consider it a really nice summer pop song. I understand that fans would be put off this given that it’s a change in musical and vocal style but honestly, it’s a really sweet and upbeat song. Giselle’s feature is short but sweet; I wish it ... read more

SOOJIN - RIZZ

It’s not AOTY and it doesn’t show much artistic growth from Agassy, but it’s an enjoyable and relaxing listen. It takes inspiration from various genres but still feels cohesive, and Soojin is clearly more comfortable in the booth than she was when recording Agassy and she sounds better for it. It’s really lovely to hear her dipping her toes into various genre pools and explore a bit more than she was able to do with Agassy. I hope she thrives.
