“Ruby” by JENNIE is FIRE! I really enjoyed this solo project from BLACKPINK member Jennie. With this album I have listened to all of the solo projects of the BLACKPINK members. Might as well summarise the whole thing. Man Jennie did not dissappoint, I liked the whole album a lot other than 2 tracks. It felt unique and fresh, but still Jennie, which makes the pacing of the album really good. The features were spot on as well, the music styles matched them perfectly. Instrumental and vocals were both great. Other than that this album felt truly like a body of work, although you could argue that it wasn’t so cohesive. I mean being a debut project, diversity isn’t all that bad, quite the opposite actually: It can showcase what the artist can offer. Second best is JISOO’s EP (“AMORTAGE”), maybe unfair to compare, but Jisoo delivered a pretty consistent EP, which was quite catchy. Comming in third we have LISA’s “Alter Ego”. Whilst having big hits, it fails to serve in the same quality with its deepcuts. Last but not least we have ROSÉ’s “rosie”, which isn’t bad, but apart from the singles the most uninteresting album out of the group. All in all “Ruby” is definetly a sonically interesting album to listen to, that also has great features and bops.
