Interesting songs elevated by stellar production that sometimes feel constrained by the vocals, particularly during more pop-oriented moments.
Red Mile feels more purposefully constructed and tightly executed compared to what I remember from Crack Cloud's previous albums. Sure it seems a little rangy and meandering at times, but comes across as meditative instead of unfocused--with lyrics worth deciphering even when the singing gets sloppy. It's a rock album that embraces variety in service of the whole, which I think is worth celebrating.
