this is my favorite kind of brutal death metal: headbangin', pit-friendly, relentlessly heavy and memorable. ahret dev were far from the first band to play rhythmically-driven brutal death metal, they weren't the only ones doing it in 1997, and a plethora of bands have followed in their footsteps to assure they weren't the last; but as your dear friend gutter420, i feel it is my responsibility to highlight just how badass this little gem is. i'm aware of the long-standing polish death metal scene but haven't delved too deep into many of the classics if i'm being honest. musically i drew parallels to various american bands from the new york and florida scenes, because at times, hellish plays like a fusion of the two. that's a bit of an oversimplification (again, coming from a guy who doesn't know that much about polish death metal) but the riffs will make you move like a NYDM band while still being on the technical side of the spectrum. i got deicide vibes at times, which is a HUGE plus for me cuz deicide are one of my favorite OSDM bands. oh, and the guitar tone is really, really, really, REALLY really really cool too. heavy as fuck, pretty dark n' evil, crunchy, love to hear it. it dominates the sound of hellish, which is aptly titled; this record is a sinister half-hour of polish brutality which sounds like a descent into the torturous bowels of hell. if ur tryna feel like a hellbound gladiator fighting off horrible undead ghouls (like if you brought a sword and/or gun--whatever your death metal weapon of choice is--to the cover of hell awaits by slayer) this is the perfect bdm album for you.
