This Dan Auerbach album has been my easy listening favourite of the summer
A perfect blend of soul & pop with a hint of Africa thrown in
Mostly self penned with a pitch perfect Labi Siffre cover I would recommend to fans of that style of soul
A true vocal force of nature Mary should be sought out by those who who like the atmosphere of early Tom Waits albums- Smokey bars and illicit dalliances in back streets. This is for the most an excellent album which spills into 1980s overproduction in a couple of tracks which sound like they belong on a separate EP
Laid back cool,
Sophisticated song writing - reaches depths of emotional connection you don’t expect.
Some fine playing by some of the best of the era.
A true classic
The Nick Cave album I keep coming back to.
Stripped back, dark, emotional , tunes that work their way into your head.
What more do you need
Ron has moved to the country and is feeling good about it. Good natured , witty , occasionally barbed against certain troll types. This is one of the albums that got me through lockdown.
