Unfortunately another miss in the latest artistic choices of Gaga. Trying so hard to resemble the earlier Gaga sound knowing fans yearn for such sound of hers. The wave of nostalgia has to stop because it doesn't do her any good. It prevents her to go in a different direction. Vocally she did amazing, production wise it turned out to be a bland thing she delivered over the years. Lyrically there were some misses.
Hopefully Blade of Grass is the new style and artistic path she choses.
Beth Gibbons released the best album this year.
The wonderful creation and progression of the sound from the start to the finish. It started very soft and delicate with instrumentals that lure you in. The middle section is quite well produced and the guitar instrumentals are very raw and end to the punch of her lyrics. Towards the end it circles back to the softness the album has started with. Truly a great release.
The continuation of her evermore storytelling and picture perfect imagery is well presented in this work of art. The toning down of the production, with piano and guitar infused instrumentals to make the lyrics resonate more is truly a wonderful crafting and show Swift's amazing levels of songwriting. It's amazing how even though every song is a story of its own they all come together to creat the well intimate and quite painful personal experience.
The intimacy of a folkmore level with the up beat synth sounds of latest midnights follow Taylor through her journey after a bad ending situation. Going through 5 stages of grief and putting it to words really came into fruition. The lyricism shows how Swift is able to jump from the regular metaphors to a picture perfect poetic storytelling.
