The Beatles - Anthology 4

If you're not a big Beatles fan I don't think you'll get much out of this, but I thoroughly enjoyed this- it's really fascinating to hear these songs in their infancy and the banter between the lads keeps it engaging over the nearly 2 hour runtime! Real Love is one of my favourite Beatles songs and the new mix is noticeably crisper- yet to decide whether this is is a good thing or not. Highlights include the absolutely gorgeous take of the Something strings, and hearing the very first take of In My Life- what a gift to be able to hear the very first time one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever recorded came into the universe.

(My rating is not of the individual songs quality as that's a bit redundant but more to do with the experience as a whole/is it worth listening to)

Real Love sounds good but the vocals sound even more uncanny in a way I find uncomfortable. They can’t fully get rid of that rough quality and it almost starts to sound robotic.

@ChanMart Yeah, they mixed them too high. Now and Then and FAAB sound better

@FancyFrog agree- the original has a real hazy quality to the mix which I think really suits the song
