Overall, I’m biased considering care for me is literally my favorite album of all time but this album is still incredible by its own merits and is a melancholic trip that I would highly recommend to anybody.
Damn near every song here is phenomenal.
Legit might be one of my least favorite songs ever made. This is a peak “those who know moment”
Ngl so appalled and blame game aren’t nearly as good as the rest of the track list, but the rest of the tracks are SO incredibly good that it makes this a 10/10 album in my eyes.
Completely understand why this is most people’s favorite Kanye album and many people’s favorite rap album period. God tier musical content tbh.
Thoughts on each song:
Hallelujah: I really like the occasional moments of percussion and logics flow is pretty good. There’s also a lot of clever lyricism which I think sets the mood well with how the project is supposed to be this ambitious all inclusive album reflecting on social issues. I think it overstays its welcome though. This song needed more to it narratively or sonically to justify being 7 minutes imo. ULTRA SHXT: I love the distortion on the vocals. Overall great hook and instrumental. It’s pretty lowkey by zel standards but I don’t fault it for that at all. 8.7/10
SET IT: gym worthy. This almost seems like we’re getting a nice mix of MMESYF and imperial and I’m all for it. Great verse from maxo Kream. 8.5/10
HOT ONE: still actually stunning. Perfect banger all around. 10/10
