This album still scares me to death. This is frightening.
I have so much to say about this album that it's almost impossible to try and narrow things out.

"Fear of Music" sees Talking Heads deal with themes of abuse, depression, drug use and war.
This album is not about being afraid of music; it's about the fear the music itself can instill in the listener. And for that, it's one of the band's biggest achievements.

After a solid debut, Talking Heads needed to expand in order to progress as a rising force in the punk scene. In "77," the band's music had largely been about David Byrne's singing and lyricism. In "More Songs About Buildings and Food" though, their sound began to enlarge.

With Brian Eno as a producer, the Heads managed to keep their material sounding urgent and captivating, while sprinkling it with new tones and embelishments.
