I have a deep emotional connection to this album and will not be taking criticism at this time

seeing Injury Reserve tomorrow night so felt like I should finally bring myself to listen to the last album, as a fan of their earlier work. its amazing, jarring, haunting, intricately produced and, even though it was almost completed when Groggs died, serves as the best send off for the group that I can possibly think of. Stella isn’t afraid to deliver her life experiences and tackle social issues on this album, on songs that are occasionally upbeat and catchy, and occasionally long, slow and emotional. Her references to Australian culture and her witty lyrics blend in well with her often straight-to-the-point criticism of our institutions, toxic masculinity and women’s rights, among other topics. I am really excited to see where she goes with her next album, following her strong debut.
