Friday Night Lights is J Cole's 3rd and final mixtape of his early mixtape run. This project is often stated to be his best. However, I do not agree that it is close to some of his future albums. However, Cole shows good hunger on this project on an overall consistent tracklist. However, some very high highs are in this project.
Too Deep For The Intro is top 5 J Cole. From the heavenly beat to the relatable lyrics to the fantastic flows, it really is a one of a kind song.

Cole World: The Sideline Story is J Cole's first full album, after a legendary mixtape run of the Come Up, Warm Up and Friday Night Lights that made him hip-hop's new big prodigy, signing with Jay-Z. Whilst the hunger shown by Cole on some of his earlier stuff still remains, this was an inconsistent tracklist, with many duds, but there are also great songs on here, such as Lost Ones, Lights Please and Sideline Story, which show great lyricism and good storytelling skills, laying the ... read more
Born Sinner is the sophomore album of J Cole. It keeps the mainstream aspect showed on his previous album, whilst maintaining the hunger shown from his mixtape era. This is a unique project, which is unbelievably consistent throughout. At the beginning of the album, Cole samples beats from the likes of Biggie Smalls, Outkast and a Tribe Called Quest. The highs on here are great, with great rapping performances and flows in the first part, with Power Trip (the smash hit song from this album) ... read more
2014 Forest Hills Drive is J Cole's 3rd album. Whilst his first two were known for transforming Cole into a staple in mainstream rap, this project dwelves into more personal topics and lyrics whilst still maintaining the 'mainstream' feel and vibe to it. This shows Cole returning to Fayeteville, NC (his hometown) and reflecting on his childhood, this visit would make up much of this album and also future works (especially The Fall Off). Most of this album is absolutely brilliant, ... read more
4 Your Eyez Only is a very unique project by J Cole. Despite only being 10 tracks long, it is an emotional listen, with no skips and lots of sensitive themes touched on. Its concept is about James, a young father who died in poverty who was close friends with the narrator (J Cole himself). J Cole perfectly executes this concept, with tears, motivation and reflection throughout.
