Owl City - Mobile Orchestra

sadly nothing quite reached the high highs of “fireflies” for me, but that would be pretty hard to do to be fair

i really did not like aloe blacc’s voice on the first track, so that was a rough start, just way too polished/sharp for me
song was just a little too bland wedding dj for me

“i found love” is alright. i think he is at his strongest when he’s not doing dance music, and not collaborating, just by himself playing with his vocoder ... read more

kind of wish the library had “whoa nelly” instead :( that is just such a good name too

anyway —
“like a bird” is great
“turn off the light” and "shit on the radio” are good

and i wasn’t really too into anything else haha

i had to always skip “fotographía,” i was just not convinced by her spanish lol

i prefer hall and oates “maneater", and there can only be one! just kidding

She & Him - Volume Two
NR

very nice album! it was one of my picks where i had no idea what it would sound like based on the cover art. also discovered later that it’s zooey deschanel’s band and she wrote most of the songs! impressive she really didn’t have any co-writers, at least according to apple music

“thieves” reminds me of patsy cline a bit?
“don’t look back” feels very beach boys to me
nice slide guitar in “me and you”

very catchy and tuneful!

beabadoobee - This Is How Tomorrow Moves
NR

really good, grew on me. melodic, good lyrics

even the slow songs, which are usually harder for me, i found compelling

good horn lines in "coming home”!!! harmon mute ftw!!! (take notes, japanese breakfast and boygenius)

guess i am less a fan of the laufey - bossa nova style of “a cruel affair"

“beaches” is great. my favorite. very catchy

Robyn - Robyn (International Edition)
NR

yeah!!!

the intro is really insane.

“cobrastyle” is iconic instrumental. charli used it in the barbie movie so now i will eternally associate them all with each other.

all iconic songs.

also played “crash and burn girl” a lot. the strings on this album are funky.

i don’t remember some of the later slower songs.
