I really like how this album presents itself. It's super conscious and the lyrical illustration on songs like "Answer", "48", and "Colossus" are fantastic also that transition from the latter to "PartyIsntOver[/etc.]" is just so good. Production is solid all around. The intro title track too was super captivating with a beautiful arrangement. I would argue that while musically inferior as a whole, the theme of love is portrayed just as well and as evocatively as on IGOR. This is especially true on "IFHY", such a great song with great instrumentation, a cool feature from Pharrell, and touching, relatable lyrics. "Rusty" is a cool song with vigorous, really solid verses from Domo, Tyler, and Earl. Then there's "Trashwang", which is...well...trash. The beat isn't good and the vocals are just doing way too chaotic and jarring. The first Tyler verse on this song is really good actually and has a cool beat switch up, but it only lasts so long, and the song goes right back to its awful state. Yea this is the only thing that I really didn't like. In the narrative of the album, it serves a purpose, but with the same narrative context, this song could have been made way more enjoyable.
Overall my favourite songs were "Cowboy", "Answer", "48", "Colossus", "IFHY", "Rusty"
This album is beautiful at times, but its also pretty damn vulgar at other times without relent. Not an issue for me but it just caught me off guard lol. The highlights on this thing are really good. I don't think there's any bad material here, but the lows are just decent or alright which leads me to rate this as is. Wolf is also really cohesive. It feels really whole and additionally there are some track transitions here in there, further contributing to really appropriate sequencing. I did quite enjoy getting another new taste of Tyler tho after only indulging in Flower Boy, Igor, and Call Me If You Get Lost over the last few years.
