Strong songs, but to know that at least 2 songs are remakes takes away value. "Whisper" is my favorite song from the EP and from the sub-group.
A perfect unit that distances itself from the main group, both in the vocal and in sound.
Refreshing. This marks her new beginning after JYP and you can hear it from the sound and visuals. 'Gashina' screams Sunmi all over the place.
Iggy was made for pop/rap if that is a genre. Annita's voice was nice, but the importance is the same as a background singer, pointless. Again, the beat was great but Iggy needs to do a rap song from start to end.
The beat is good and the first verse was a strong entry. But the 'mo bounce' for 1000 time is kind of tiring to hear.
This was an amazing comeback after her debut. Powerful lyrics of going solo and strong lead single.
Fall from grace. After being one of the strongest debut of the new generation, Blackpink keep releasing songs that are far behind of 'Square One'. Promotioned as the pink side from the group, the song almost feels like an homage to 2NE1, without being one. This is a recycled song, but the timing was the best. If this had been their debut, we would be witnesses of another story.
After a strong debut, 'Square Two' feels bland. The second part - in maybe a four part series - shows the softer side of the group, where "Playing with Fire" is the only track upbeat. Thanks to "Stay", we can see the softer side of the group and thanks of an acoustic version of "Whistle", we are witness something to undo.
One of the best debut of the new generation of K-pop acts. Definitely a new sound and color for girl groups that is not cute or almost cute. In this very first work from the group, managed to show how vocals and rap are cohesive and important to each other, leaving the feeling that all the song should do the same.
After ten years of career, is really difficult to show something new, specially when the group is consistent on good title tracks and overall music. So is not new that this album is solid but safe, and would've a perfect EP. "All Night" is the highlight and "Love is Bitter" the song that shows a mature Girls' Generation in a Girls' Generation sound.
If this was Swift's first entry to the pop genre, it will be ok or even cool, but it's not. 1989 saw how the country singer can pull off a pop persona, so no excuses can be made to what this song is, an attempt to a diss track with an used hook and lack of innovation. Catchy... that's all.
After a solidified image with her previous EP, A'wesome (2016), Following feels like a fun summer release, with no ambitions to add or modified Hyuna's persona. "BABE" is what "How's This?" wasn't for A'wesome, an awesome title track.
The vocals are to praise and songs like "BABE" and "DART" are the highlights, adding a great dynamic to the rapper's discography.
