I love Let's Eat Grandma so I had very high expectations for this album, but overall I thought it was just ok. A lot of these songs sound a little basic when compared to Let's Eat Grandma's discography. But it still has plenty of emotional pop songs that I would expect from a LEG record. It's a nice listen, I was just expecting more.
fave songs: Push, Dolphins, Do You Still Believe in Me?
least fave: Quicksand Heart
I definitely like this more than Solar Power (which just wasn't that interesting to me). This album still doesn't grip me like her first two albums, but it's also a natural progression of her sound/aesthetic. I wasn't crazy about this album at first, but the more I listen to it, the more I appreciate it.
fave songs: Hammer, Man Of The Year, Broken Glass
least fave: If She Could See Me Now
Overall, I really enjoyed this album Not every song stands out to me, but at worst they're just a little forgettable. Florence manages to stick to this witchy aesthetic without seeming like she's trying too hard. Some of her most devastating lyrics are on this album.
fave songs: Sympathy Magic, Buckle, The Old Religion
least fave: And Love
No one's doing it like Rosalía right now. Her voice is able to carry so much emotion that it doesn't matter if you can't understand the lyrics. No song feels out of place. I look forward to every listen of this album.
fave songs: Reliquia, La Perla, Sauvignon Blanc
least fave: Porcelana
I like Preacher's Daughter more, but this is still a great album. There was clearly a lot of thought put in this album with the storytelling. Even the interludes play a special role. My main complaint is that some of the songs are so long to the point where it drags for me. But even then it's still an enjoyable album that reveals something new with each listen.
fave songs: Janie, Fuck Me Eyes, Nettles
least fave: Tempest
