Jacob Collier - The Light For Days
50

This weirdly strips away all of Jacob's strengths, yet also his weaknesses at the same time, to the point where this album is incredibly middle of the road that I struggle to write my thoughts on it. The intro and outro track he really put his all into, every other song here is by far not his most memorable work

BEST: Something Heavy, Norwegian Wood, You Can Close Your Eyes

WORST: Icarus, Where Did My Apple Fall?, Fairytale Lullaby

Dove Ellis - Blizzard
82

Thom Yorke + Jeff Buckley = Dove Ellis. A ridiculously stellar debut, with even more room for improvement, I'm so excited to where he can go from here.

BEST: Pale Song, When You Tie Your Hair Up, Heaven Has No Wings, Love Is, Little Left Hope, Away You Stride

WORST: 'Feathers, Cash'

Rochelle Jordan - Through The Wall
59

If Rochelle Jordan is the spearhead for mainstream house music in the near future, I'm all for it, even if I didn't really care much for this album. It's clear she can make good highlights, and get even better doing them, I'm curious for what she does next.

BEST: Ladida, The Boy, Get It Off, Doing It Too, Crave, Close 2 Me

WORST: TTW, Eyes Shut, Sweet Sensation

LAUSSE THE CAT - The Mocking Stars
84

The most pleasantly surprised I've been by an album so far this year, and I still feel like I need to explore it more. As it is, a charming and immersive journey of a completely irreverent story, yet the impressive intent, impressive imagery and swirling production really do make this a great work of art to marvel at.

BEST: I.D.W.G.A.J, Blue Bossa, The Midnight Hour, Space Cadet Cat, Lotus Bottom, The Mocking Stars, A Dour Sun

WORST: Tea Party

Danny Brown - Stardust
77

Only Danny Brown could make an album that's simultaneously this insane-sounding, yet somehow wholesome & sweet. Reflecting upon his two decades in the game and newfound sober attitudes, it gives an album that's proud to stand on the feets of the maker's labour and is a great victory lap, even if a little inconsistent.

BEST: Book of Daniel, Copycats, Stardust, What You See, All4U, Lift You Up, Whatever the Case, The End

WORST: RIGHT FROM WRONG
