Electronic Rap. Strong beginning few tracks and couple at the end. Definitely a more unique type of take on conscious rap with electronic/horror type of textures. Just after a stellar beginning, a lot of it in the middle feels dragged out, and then finishes strong at the end. Good potential here for the next album though for sure.
Cinematic post blackgaze. His best yet. Production finally where it should be and nearly error free. Great arrangements that really work properly.
Very good post bm. Truly innovative, great pacing and compositional choices. Runs a touch long on total runtime, but for the most part, never really feels long. Great mix of a lot of different instruments in a way that just works. The production could have been a bit cleaner/nicer, but that is mostly a nitpick. Definitely not even near bad production. 3 members from Amun too. Definitely deserving of a top bm album of the year slot.
Folky atmospheric bm. Wish the production was a bit better. Drums sound thin and different elements blend together more than I would like. But quite good outside of that. Good pacing and composition.
Psychedelic Doom. Really fun, just quite short. It is maybe a little too lo-fi slightly, but mostly works for the genre and what it is going for. Would happily return.
Synthy bm that tries to be folk but falls on its face trying to do so. Really weird timbre and antiquated midi that just sounds cheap. Not any innovative ideas either.
Atmospheric black/death metal. Has a feel like Sulphur Aeon, but with synths and symphonics. Very technically sound in terms of actual instrument playing, unique ideas scattered throughout that all work really well together. The only knock is that it sometimes feels too heavy the same way that tech death can feel.
Favourite track is probably The Static Discord
Best track probably Bodhidharma.
Everything works really well on this album overall. If I had to nitpick something, maybe some of the pacing could have been better. But fantastic energy, good production and very interesting the whole time. Album does not drag either, feels like a good length overall.
Decently solid. Pushed back closer to illuminate the path, but the synth tones were offputting. It felt a bit loud. And some pm like sounding parts. Also felt a bit directionless.
Fantastic vocals, and good guitar lines. Everything flows really well together. Production was a really good balance of very good and slightly harsher in what bm should be.
Really interesting, every track felt like what it was titled and just clicked in a way that is difficult to describe
Extremely good crushing bass lines, bm vocals that sound like acid rain (complimentary), great builds to create the atmosphere.
First three tracks were a bit rough, overcompressed creating a really unappealing atmosphere, but got much better at Garden Route onwards. Started getting overcompressed again a few tracks later. A pretty solid album that would have been so much better with less compression. Would have pushed for 90 status with less compression.
The Sumac parts are good, but the moor mother vocals, especially with how loudly they are mixed just kills this. Really a frustrating experience having to turn the volume all the way down every time moor's vocals come in, and then Sumac's instrumentation is hard to hear.
Some interesting arrangements, a lot of different instruments. Compositionally it is pretty varied and well thought out, but the dynamics of everything do not really hit hard enough. Definitely a second half album; the last three tracks were significantly better than the beginning.
Killer psychedelics including a psychedelic bass guitar line in Salem. A perfect blend of the genres. Could have used more bm, but honestly a perfect album anyhow.
