acloudyskye - This Won't Be The Last Time
91

The album feels a very tiny bit too long at times since its mostly the same style, however the sheer quality of these tracks make up for it by a lot

This "sound" that skye has put into here is innovative and expansive, and you can feel the passion. My only issue is that the vocals are hard to hear at times due to how tight it was mixed with the instrumental, but other than that, it's an excellent album

ツユ [TUYU] - やっぱり雨は降るんだね [It's Raining After All]

I absolutely adore this album to this day. I'm going to miss tuyu for sure.

This album is a great example of J-Pop and J-Rock and even though it's not perfect (like for example the mixing is a bit too tight) i think that it's still holding up very well even after 4 years.

My only skips here are Track 4 (When the morning glory falls) and Track 5 (Loneliness and the future)

For T4, it's too slow for my liking and falls flat a tiny bit however it has good vocals and ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - GNX

This ain't my Album of the Year, but I get why people love it. It’s bold as hell with a crap ton of love and hate packed into 44 minutes. It’s kinda messy, but in a way that works. Not every track blew me away, but as a whole, it's empowering.

There’s mad variety here. Tracks like "squabble up," "wacced out murals," "man at the garden," "hey now," and "gnx" didn’t fully hit for me at first, but I know ... read more

KSI - Thick of It / Low

Here's some actual reasons on why this is bad:
The really heavy emphasis on bass and hi-hats with no melody is overused to death at this point in the music space
Heavy use of vocal processing
Song got promoted in the middle of self inflicted drama (DanTDM made 1 tweet, bro made 5-9 responses AND a song) to leverage on views and engagement

and this is my main gripe with it; tons of really heavily self centered lyrics

here's a list of the major ones:
"I'm in the thick of it, ... read more

Imagine Dragons - Mercury - Acts 1 & 2

It's barely ok.

It feels like the majority of these songs have sloppy vocals or instrumentals, and i honestly can't care less about these lyrics

Coldplay - Parachutes

This album just isn't it. It's consistent but it feels sloppy and slow, especially with its vocal work. Yellow is really the only track that stands out here, and another thing that i don't understand is them naming the album after the shortest, most underwhelming song in it.

It's just a slow ass formulaic approach that can be great for a standalone song, but for an album that is 42 minutes long filled with lyrics that sound like they are being read from a children's ... read more

Porter Robinson - SMILE! :D

Porter's decided to go with a more standard genre and more focus on vocals, but that does not mean he went easy on the production of this album.

The mixing is great, with lyrics that even though are considered "cringe" or "emo" by some, they are brutally honest, and are complimented by the deeply layered instrumentals and complicated effects that can catch you off guard at times

Sometimes, it does go too far though, and it shows the most on 'Easier to Love ... read more

Porter Robinson - Nurture

This album is excellent, there were some songs that didn't age that well for me (mainly wind tempos, do-re-mi, and dullscythe) but they're still very nice additions to an emotional album that expresses itself in a very unique, creative and original way, to the point where it really counts as it's own genre.

Charli xcx - BRAT

This album is ok, but there is not enough really in this album for me to love it.

There are some sparks of brilliance, like in "Girl, So Confusing" with it's slightly off key vocal chords or "So I" with its honest lyricism and very simple but passionate sound but it just feels underwhelming

You can tell there was passion put into the project, but this style isn't for me.
