This was the first album I'd heard from VOLA and it largely stands the test of time for me. Subjectively though, Smartfriend is a bit too intense for the album's general atmosphere, and Green Screen Mother has the exact opposite problem. The standout track for me is Ruby Pool; It is just a perfect song with a perfect vibe.
An incredibly emotional album that hits home for me. Following through with Kendrick on his struggles with infidelity, and his journey through therapy showed me that I was not alone in my journey. An incredible album that deserves more acclaim.
WOW! Such an incredibly profound and dark "conclusion" to the story! As with most of TDH's albums, this one just ebbs and flows from song to song. The story is something to be studied and shared. I can't listen to The Acts without singing along with every single track from every album. One of my Top 5!
This album, while initially seeming eclectic, has served an incredibly important purpose in defining and expanding my taste in music. The story (as a concept album) is hard to infer from just one listen, but even on the first listen, you can tell that there's an incredible amount of musicality from this group.
