PLAVE - Caligo Pt.1

Plave has released their long-awaited third mini album “Caligo: Pt. 1”, a project best defined with one word: perplexing. While the EP marks another era of Plave's genre exploration, lyrically, it fails to diverge from their typical concept beyond its title track “Dash”; furthermore, somehow, the project manages to carry on and exacerbate the incohesiveness of their previous EP “Asterum: 134-1”.

Dookie. No, the four-on-the-floor isn't saving this guy. This is one the reasons why the gays (me included) need to gatekeep House music as if our lives depend on it. We didn't create House music for it to be abused and defiled by social media acts with trash songwriting. "B-But he's obviously bi-curious or something"... Couldn't care less, as my points still stand. The songwriting isn't "fire" unless you mean "dumpster fire". It's ... read more

The title track of the same name is a weak, commercialized interpretation of grungy Rock. It’s the type of song to leave you theorizing what could’ve been done to save its diluted production. Even the vocals and electric guitar don’t have ... read more

With "Yum"—a mix of Drift House, Jersey Club, and Hardcore—Kep1er returns to continue their spectacular genre-bending and blending, which began with last year's "Straight Line." During the pre-chorus, the instrumental clears for inspiring, belted vocals, perfectly setting the mood for the absolute beast of a chorus that follows. If only the pre-chorus had been used twice.

The choruses, with their layered vocals and Hardcore sound, are undoubtedly the ... read more
