Relapse. Polarizing. Somewhat...entertaining,and a dive into the slim shady monicur like never before, and never again. Relapse is the idea of more equals better...but backfiring. Em took the slim shady persona and what made slim shady, well, slim shady and just did...too much. "Eminem has corny lines" I never really believed this until TES since a corny line to me has more to do with delivery then the lyric itself. Ems delivery and amount of poop, buttrape, and just awkward lines on relapse is a bit hard to combat...also the accents smh...while i do undertand the love this album gets. Its eminem hyperfied. Honestly a cult classic to his fanbase. I just cant. While the production is the farthest mainstream sounding from any eminem project theres to much just...bad or filler moments for me through-out. There's moments i love moments I hate almost causing indifference to the majority of the album. Do i hate it? No. Do i think its amazing? Not even close. While i will say there are 2 tracks on this album worthy of top 10 eminem tracks to me. This is the eminem fanbases Yeezus. While people outside ye's fanbase dont particularly like yeezus, outside critics, only notable critic to shit on its anthony fantano, his casual listeners didnt reallt care for it. But kanyes stanbase id say love yeezus and its abrasiveness i think its safe to say the same for relapse. The way relapse is considered a horrorcore album, but compared to horrorcore projects is not even close to up to par, and how people hate it more for that is the same way people dislike yeezus for its similarities with deathgripps.(which i dont really see anymore besides both being experimental)So honestly. The highlights kinda outweight the lowlights. Id rank this #6 in Eminems discography over encore, recovery, and revival. And i do go back to a couple tracks. As a whole its a lil better then decent. Im feeling a strong 6.
