good listen, real short, some good beats and boldy alwaaays provides.
a collection of hydeout productions. better than the first by a mile. tracks like sky is falling, counting stars, old light, and after hanabi reminding me that i love nujabes, and all that he had to offer the world. im so glad to have all of his stuff on vinyl.
a close second to the pairing that was freddie gibbs and madlib, alfredo is a project that immediately made itself a classic in the height of the 2020 pandemic. at 35 minutes the album knows exactly what it is, and does so with beauty with tracks like frank lucas, and babies & fools. tracks like 1985 is for me, in talks with being one of the best opening tracks for an album ever. also my hot take is that something to rap about is overrated... i just dont get it!
what a fuckin' combo. madlib and freddie gibbs goes better together than anything in this universe. generational pair up that was lightining a bottle in 2014. the highs of shitsville and thuggin are so high it makes my head spin, with runner ups being deeper, uno, and that incredible ass posse cut of piñata.
