Listened to this on a plane while taxing and taking off and holy shit i almost cried when the plane first got off the ground. The songs are so simply layered yet so emotionally powerful and melancholic.
You can literally hear the pain in her voice, and there is so much emotions to it. Have to come back and read the lyrics and listen to it while it’s like 2am, cause I’m sure that would wreck me.
But honestly tho I haven’t been a fan of her new drone/ambient stuff, but it worked well in this album. It reallt put songs together like a scenes in movies.
That said I still like preachers daughter way better. I wish there are more of its elements in this album (like harder ... read more
Between friends was one of the bands that introduced me the world to indie music years ago and I really dig their old stuff and I still do. However this album didn’t do it for me, not sure if my music taste have shifted since then. I find the songs quite repetitive and generic. Their signature sound can still be heard but I think this album is rather too low key.
Where is the energy??? Is it even wet leg without the craziness? The album is too low key and not something I would expect from them. Tho I think the songs are well put together, just very not their style.
Vocals are pretty generic but I really like the instrumentals.
Like most people, I came across jordana thur the TV girl album, which was an absolute banger. I’m glad she went on and make another great album herself, tho I have to say some of the songs in the middle didn’t really hit. I’m usually not a fan of music that are too happy but honestly there is something magical about this one, and it works really well!
The reason why I actually knew this album is that I saw her live a few months ago. And wow her performance was like 10/10. Her ... read more
Very stylish songs with interesting instrumentals and multiple memorable songs. Everything but the lyrics sounds very polished, but who cares, it’s never meant to be songs to listen to in detail or reflect to, it’s meant to be played in clubs or just getting you through the day, and I think the sounds in the album nailed that.
I remember I found charlotte 5-6 yeaes ago when my music taste was still mainstream pop, and she was one of the first few smaller artist that I start to listen to. But after so many years I really barely hear her songs anymore. Recently I found that she is going to have a show in my area in August so I check her songs out again, honestly really nostalgic listening to her iconic older stuff. However, this album is kinda disappointing. Ngl all the songs sounds quite generic. Tho there are some ... read more
Randomly recommended by Spotify. Few interesting tracks with shoegaze influences here and there but overall very mid.
Usually not a fan of country, but I’ve always liked alt/indie rock and shoegaze. The country inspired guitar sounds actually made it a very interesting blend of genres, and the dynamics of it works very well together. Though there are some songs that felt a bit generic imo, but the tempo usually picks up and draws my attention in again.
Randomly found one of the songs of this album in some shoegaze playlist, which made me check out the artist. Very solid shoegaze/dream pop sounds with catchy melodies. Really enjoyed the floaty feeling too.
I graduated from uiuc last year, and I was so bummed i missed her house shows before I left!! (Even miss one this year when i went back to visit my friends:( ) . i was a big fan of "I hope I die inside a fire" and "brain cells", and i wished there were more songs from her of that style. And my wishes were answered! This album sounds incredible and only gets better with every listen. The production is also mature and I especially enjoyed the slacker rock inspired guitar ... read more
One of my favorite bands that i found in 2025! I saw them open live for Glixen a few months ago and have been a fan of She's Green since then. My favorite track is Mandy, the vocals are heavenly and I feel a dopamine rush every time the ending part comes on.
The instrumentals are very well done too, especially when I heard them live, really felt like i was sinking right into the music.
Though initially slightly disappointed by the lack of the groovy Marias sound from the previous releases, the album grew on me a lot on the second and third listens. The dreamy vocals and instrumentals made me really felt like i was underwater in a peaceful ocean.
One of my favorite albums from Clairo, on par with Sling to me. The aesthetics of it felt to be handcrafted, all the instrumental details paired with the delicate vocals is an absolute joy to listen to. After a whole year, I still come back to this album frequently to experience the unique sonic experience.
