2. Apocalypse Please - 90
I could even give this 95. It opens the album so well with the marching leading in from the intro. The harmonies and vocal layering in this song are great and it definitely does feel like the end of the world to listen to this song. The final 30 seconds or so sound so good with the piano.
3. Time Is Running Out - 85
This used to be my favourite Muse song. It has so many catchy parts and is also quite groovy, if that is the word. Still a very good song and I hope to see it live one day.
4. Sing For Absolution - 85
This song is very good overall, but those last 2 minutes or so sound amazing. I feel like I'm going to explode every time I hear that part.
5. Stockholm Syndrome - 100
Near perfect song. The vocal layering, the harmonies, the arpeggios? It's simultaneously one of their heaviest songs AND one of their most beautiful sounding. The guitar solo feels like I'm being propelled through the song, especially with the sort of distortion on it. Life changing song, honestly.
6. Falling Away With You - 85
This is one of my favourite Muse songs lyrically. Also, though it might sound silly to say, as this is just what a song is, I love the way the melodies and just overall the song sonically really compliment the lyrics. It's like the changes in the song perfectly compliment the lyrics. The verses, both sound wise and lyrics wise, are sort of bittersweet, feeling drained from the previous instability of the relationship, but still trying to cling on to any bit of hope or love for the other person, because they have nothing else. Then the start of the chorus really sounds like the world is falling apart, with is also (metaphorically) what the lyrics are saying. The couple have fallen back into old habits and it's ruining their lives. Everything is so intense for them, much like the song. But that last line of the chorus sounds a lot more positive or even hopeful, despite saying the same thing the rest of the chorus is. The song is a constant cycle of infatuation, toxicity, defeat and hope and I think it is done incredibly.
8. Hysteria - 100
The bass? The main guitar riff? The distortion on the vocals? The guitar solo? This entire song is so good. Probably my favourite guitar solo of a Muse song, as well as one of my favourite choruses.
9. Blackout - 70
Sometimes, this is one of the best songs I have ever heard. Other times, it is just meh. The performance of this at Wembley looks incredible, though. It's such a unique song and I hope it grows on me even more one day. The strings towards the end are gorgeous.
10. Butterflies & Hurricanes - 100
Pianos & Belting. Not much else to say. But genuinely, this song is incredible. It can feel a bit repetitive, but that's what makes the piano section so good. The harmonies are stunning and this song really soars.
11. The Small Print - 85
This song goes very hard and it's another song I really enjoy the lyrics of. I love how everything hits on the "say" at the start of the chorus.
12. Fury - 75
This song definitely grows on me every time I listen to it and I hope it continues to. The chorus is extremely good. I am starting to see why people love it so much.
13. Endlessly - 80
This instrumental is so unique and the song is so calming. I really do like this song and I think it's underrated.
14. Thoughts Of A Dying Atheist - 75
Very catchy and fun. Another song where I really appreciate the lyrics. I just sometimes wish it had something more, but I still love it.
15. Ruled By Secrecy - 65
I often get bored listening to this song, but I can appreciate how pretty it is. However, the part when the piano gets louder until the end massively improves my ranking. I love that part and I feel like it's a great way to finish the album.
