Without a doubt one of my favourite albums of the Japanese Kankyo Ongaku era - I know that Yoshimura has more famous releases, but the warmth in this one is impeccable. Some songs are bathed in silence and held chords, and others propel forward with quiet joy, like 'Singing Stream'. The title track is one of my absolute favourite ambient songs of all time.
Incredibly cold and desolate album for something that goes so hard, but maybe I just don't listen to enough death doom to recognize it in other releases. Where death and doom usually has a 'hot' sound to me, the guitars are thin (but still crunchy), and the drums cold and hollow with so much reverb. There are two types of metal I like: the first is metal that is unsettling, an absolutely bad time, striking a personal sense of fear and trepidation that I can relate to. The other is bizzarro spooky monstrous metal that hits like a truck. This is the second, and a practically perfect metal album for me.
