How do I start this one CTRL was dropped June 9, 2017 The debut album, garnered critical Acclaim from websites like pitchfork and other music critic websites. Most importantly to this website and album of the year Garner to 7 from Fantano, which I think is pretty blasphemous. I honestly think this sounds pretty perfect, so you know I think it is my least favorite Fantano review there’s lotta reviews I don’t like from him but I think that one might stick out the most when I first heard about this album I was a teenager. I didn’t really know anything about the record. I just thought she looked really hot and I thought her music video for love galore was really hot. That’s kind of it. Please forgive me on that one. I was a weirdo teenager and I was very much looking for a girlfriend at the time, but one thing that always struck me about this album was the cover. It’s a beautiful pose of her, just staring at the listener. With these luscious greenery in the background and TVs surrounding her, it’s a beautiful, cover and stuff it’s became one of my favorite album covers of all time I have a vinyl of it on my wall I look at it every day and it always puts a smile on my face. The time this record released, I didn’t really know her music. The only music I was into. It was really shitty trap like, for example, DaBaby now forgive me on this one. This is when he was really popular, and he wasn’t unanimously hated to be the like the worst rapper ever I don’t release give him a soft spot of like nostalgia anything I despise his music even from them now, I think he’s garbage I just remember really liking his voice so that’s why I really like this music. I’m going off topic I don’t need to go on it at a tangent on why it was semi-valid for me to like the baby when I was a little kid. CTR, is a debut album, young music that she released before was a mixtape until the piece. A lot of her music was way more like trap influenced, and I think, even like Björk influenced people like to say that it was a mixture between Bjork and Beyoncé, which I disagree with, but I can see where people are coming from not every track from those days really stick out and I really love but there are some songs I do like for example castles Orange Moon and then on her mixtape, she showed way more artistic development with the beautiful glitzy 80s Pop soul, Julia or the Marvin Gaye sampled Sweet November people were already picking it up that she was going to become a big popstar. Obviously I didn’t know I was a really little kid at this time I didn’t know who she was and I wouldn’t know who she was for a really long time , but when I didn’t know who she was and I started doing my research, I definitely can see where people are coming from and eventually when this record did come out, it did go way more pop. He had a lot of more R&b and more high-level production. From More notable names OK now let’s finally get into what I think about this record. It starts off with the opening track super model. Super model is an acoustic song that many people said should be on the last song of the album. Even Kendrick said this talking to her, but she was very convinced that this was the opener she ignored with people were saying about where the song should go and she said OK I’m gonna put it here at the beginning and honestly I agree I’m in the first hearing this song I was watching Shawn cee’s review on this album and I remember hearing the chords in it immediately struck me I turned off the video and it listen that song over and over and over and over and over again it became one of my favorite songs of all time if not my favorite song of all time, and I can still say that with a smile on my face, I think that would be the sun that I would pick to have. I was stuck on the island and I could only have one sock, so after listening to this song over and over and over again and falling in love with it, I immediately thought to myself why should I just listen to the rest of the album I remember immediately turning it on and loving every song on it the only song I think I had a problem with his prom. I don’t know why I had a problem with prom but I just did and the part on garden. Well she’s talking about how she doesn’t have a fat ass she’s jealous but now I love every little bit about every song it serves so much importance to me and he’s got me through a lot of things. I got this album into my life at the very critical points. I was in a relationship for months at that time in the relationship wasn’t that good looking back at it it wasn’t the best for both sides more my side she was definitely not the best person for me and she did a lot of things that were pretty disgusting and eventually when we did have the falling out that was inevitable , I can use this record to fall back on. It really got me through a lot of things. I am finding out when she got a new boyfriend and I was absolutely destroyed and I remember scrolling through my playlist blindly, hoping to just find something to make me a little happier, and pretty little birds came on which I had listen to in forever, and I remember the feeling you gave me, and then I lost a feeling when the sun going off, I listen to it again and again and again, and a possible months, long depression was only about a three day long depression Soley, because of pretty little birds, and for that not to be my favorite song on the album because of that story shows how much I love this album to continue onto album supermodel is a song where she’s writing a letter to a lover talking about how she doesn’t really need stuff from him she’s leaving she knows what he’s doing and she’s mad at him obviously, and she saying that she only had sex with him just for temporary love many cruel things about them the song is very powerful and it has this really cool outro which I think the drums were played by Ferrell which is really cool where it’s just drums now pick up from it only acoustic track. She’s doing a falsetto in here a guy in the back I’m kind of whispering. It’s a weird ominous start but it’s the best way to start this album . It’s gorgeous and I can go on about that song for hours, but it’s gonna get out of hand at some point so let’s move onto the next song love galore is the biggest song off the record as a feature from Travis Scott has this very Poppy beat very easy to listen to hook very easy to listen to her voice sounds very, very very good on the song, most powerful and striking vocals, you could even see in the whole album Travis Scott’s feature is pretty funny to say the least. Why are you bother me while you’re riding it why are you bother me? I always laugh at I really think that that song is just such a fun ride and everything that she talks about is really cool. I also learned what fling is from that song so I’m thankful for That , it’s really pretty and it’s really nice. It’s really fun and it really just lightens up my day every time I listen that song and now thinking about it and talking about it when I’m done writing this review I’m probably gonna go listen to that song because it’s just so awesome and it’s so cool and it deserves all the love that it already gets that let’s move on to the next song doves in the wind doves in the wind is a remarkably gross song is a Kendrick‘s feature, which is awesome doves in the wind, which is the title of it stands for when a penis ejaculate in a vagina. I’m not surprised it means that because basically, the only word of the song is pussy that’s all they talk about but I don’t care cause it’s awesome that boom BAP influence beat with these really nice since throughout the whole song it’s just an airy feel , she’s going on a whole tangent and she’s going crazy and she’s talking about everything that you have to do to please her and it’s awesome and then Kendrick comes in and has one of his most stellar features he’s ever had do I think it’s his best feature no do I think it’s a perfect feature yes I’m a really big Kendrick fan so I’m gonna have a biased towards him but I don’t care that feature is kick ass and I will always stand by it. I don’t really think it gets so much hate the Santa really have to go on a tangent about it. Song goes through many movements of just pussy pussy pussy and it has some really really really nice. Moments were in the back, and she said, saying the name of the song and her voice just sounds so angelic and gorgeous and it sounds so much better than anything I’ve ever heard and I remember hearing that song for the first time and just being like holy shit. This album is as good as the intro. oh my God , the first song is title, Jew Barrymore thankfully Drew Barrymore was in the music video for that song which is really really cool and this song is one of the most gutwrenching songs on it and ends with this crushing string section just the vibe of the song the feel of the silence is really crushing and sad and that the chorus being is it warm enough for me is just crushing. She’s talking about how she misses the control she had in her life over this love her if you can’t tell by the title of the album, there’s basically a little bit of a concept from this record she talks about control power, mental health, and very relatable. Things that everyone goes through in their life. The record is just really upfront about it and re-listening to it now and picking up all the lyrics. It really just blows my mind how this kind of went over my head and went over other sites. I think the concept is probably the most underrated aspect on the album it’s absolutely gorgeous and it’s really relatable and from a person that has had struggled with control in my life and stuff like that I can really look at it and first it strikes a little bit of sadness but then I know I’m like OK I’m not alone in this so , it’s fine but to go back onto Drew Barrymore this song is really really really goddamn pretty. The hook is gorgeous in the lead up to it where it has a little break and just a drum roll into the hook is absolutely amazing everything about that song is just so goddamn good I think that is probably my second favorite on the record. I member show my mom that and that’s became may be her favorite song that I’ve ever played her for . I’ve really connected with that some with many people to it is a really great song I think that from this websites perspective, that is probably the best song on the album now do I think that no but don’t get me wrong it’s a valid take it’s one of the most beautiful heart breaking tracks you can hear prom which is the next song she always likes to take out some influence from 80s Pop her last mixtape had a song called Julia which has a lot of like $.80 and stuff like that and prom is no exception. It has a slight kind of bustling feel that I only feel like I get from like you know mid 80s maybe some early 90s stuff but really just some 80s pop and it’s really nice it’s really simple and it’s a nice break from the intense song that is Drew Barrymore and it really serves a really great purpose for the record. It’s just a nice sound it’s just a really fun experience and that song is probably the song that I go back to the most store one of the songs I come back to the most it’s essentially easy song that is vibe to, and I don’t really feel like it’s been overplayed unlike a lot of the rest of this album because once a bunch of little kids got this on TikTok, it became the only songs on TikTok, and I definitely didn’t ruin it for me because I don’t think anything can ruin this album for me, But it kinda got close with songs like a Weekend and love galore and you know he can have everything but I don’t feel like prom got taken out of control by tick-tock so this song is definitely still one that I feel a little bit more personal to just because of how much of a deep cut. This is for her standards that you know probably has like 30+ million streams on Spotify but I don’t care it’s just such a gorgeous little track where it’s definitely not the best one hour I think anyone thinks it’s the best one is way more of the sneezer in from the break of Drew Barrymore, and to the next song which is the weekend the weekend is probably the least conceptual track from this album. Most of the album comes over topics that I’ve discussed already. This one is pretty simply about. I’m at peace with being able to just get this guy for the weekend but when I get him motherfucker I get him he is mine only mine it’s a crazy song when it’s definitely the most R&b influence track on the record. It has these really nice keys floating in the background this wrenching 8808 this really really really good chorus and just this and Cermak Pop R&B song that really just takes over and probably is the most beloved song of this album it’s such a good great baby making song and it’s just a really really really nice fun listen and Yocho catches a lot of people off guys with the bridal ideas. We’ve got Friday yes I like seeing the review of the turning the tables listen to this album and seeing the father, get his ears pierced by the outro. I love the alternative always love the ultra I wonder where the outro stands out to because she has some other tracks or so just put in a little snippet of another song and then there’s a whole unreleased song out there so I can only imagine that there’s a whole unreleased song to we’ve got bright ideas after that it goes to go Gina Go Gina is probably one of the more hated songs on the switch to me I think that’s crazy. Go listen to the simplified down version on her YouTube I think or acoustic I Forget it’s really really really pretty and it’s really good but this song is about how she is a little bit freaked out by her friends, and her social circle might not be in the place of how she wants it to be, but she still gonna go with that , you know saying smoking weed that’s too cool for seventh grade is some thing, especially at that time place I was where a bunch of my friends were doing drugs, and I was refraining from it was definitely something I could relate to especially the timer when I first heard the album it’s really really fun and like most of this album it’s just really fun and easy to listen to. It’s just a funny, easy listen to record it’s like there’s nothing to murder. Explain about it. The drum loop is absolutely amazing. The little China comes in in and out. The hook is super super super memorable. You know I always like to say the lyric them, jeans, up tight mama you need that get right mama this song outro is a really nice little string section that eases into the next time garden parentheses say it like dat) this song is the most trap influenced has this crazy crazy ethereal beat it to me. This is the song I feel like is the closest to her older music in for a bunch of people that like exclusively her older music. This is probably their favorite song look for more. Poppy era. This song is incredible. It goes through you know so many really cool movements it’s gorgeous I think this to me it feels like one of the peaks on the album at least in the concept of it. You know talking about how she needs control over this lover and how she feels like that her lover . He’s embarrassed to be with her and she says you know you can be around nobody else but when you’re around nobody else you’ll love me still right and she’s just kind of excepting that it’s a really dark thing to think about but somethings she goes over and you can tell she’s really desperate for this person And I think we’ve all been in a place like that with someone in our life especially someone specifically where we really just wanted them to no matter what just love us for who we are and it’s a really good song and it really cuts deep to certain extent not as deep as other songs like you, Barrymore, and songs we get into later but yet garden is really really really goddamn good it’s really pretty it’s really crazy and it’s definitely not my favorite song of the album but it’s a really good song. Also shout out Donald Glover he’s in the music video. Yeah it’s great. Broken clocks is the next song broken clocks is one of the biggest songs off the album. Everyone knows the song the vocal sample is pretty memorable people know it another son that has a lot of trap influence and I mean I kind of this song for a lot of things it’s really good. She goes over a lot of things that she used to do when she was little she used to live in New Jersey, and I think one of her first jobs being a bartender at a strip club and she talks about at the very beginning of the song that she’s going back to a strip club and then it goes right after I’m never going back never going back so it’s a weird one and it covers you know a lot of control problems like how the rest of the record does, and it does it equally as well as the other songs I don’t love the sound of this one as much as others. I do love the sound of it but this song I think might be the best some lyrically the hook is all I got is these broken clocks feeling like that she is just let down and she doesn’t have too much left but she’s going to take what she has and she’s gonna move on with it and she’s going to take it in pride Because that’s all she can do now and this song is a really really good song for the sole reason of how it sums up this record lyrically and how it puts this concept fully into realization on this song I feel like it does the best way on keeping the concept of life and it’s definitely not the closer by any means, but it does a amazing job at that and it’s a really good song for that reason. Now we go to the more Lofi songs, the Interlude wavy featuring James Fauntleroy this song starts off with her so I think I’m bad as hell. I got issues on my mind, which is really good. This is the fun catchy lyric in her chemistry with Mr. fault. Laroi is really good and it just sounds great. Vocals are stellar on the song. It’s a very very good and underrated Interlude, and I can sit down and listen to it whenever. But there’s not too much to say about most interludes and it’s the same story with this love this song so much got no problems with that. Move onto the next next is anything anything is a very simple song so fine it’s very silly with a hook, just being tutu do you even know I am alive do do do you even know know know? This song changes from instruments from clapping at the end of it and footstomping at the end of it at the beginning with it being like way more to sense lines and pretty simple production for the record standards these little keys glistening keys that are pretty consistent throughout the record show up play memorably on the song I feel like when I think of the silkies I think of the song pretty Little birds And it’s really awesome it’s really good it’s just a little vibe and it also adds onto the concept of the record, which is really good and really fun. It also is a really good break from the rest of the record intensity at moments. It kind of just breaks off into these two little nice pop songs that are not nearly as intense and another great thing about this record is the sequencing You know after Drew Barrymore, and right before the weekend which are two of the craziest songs on the record let me know crazy but two of the biggest songs on the record right before it is prom which is this nice little simple 80s Lofi pop song and it goes through all these little things and it’s really nice and I feel like wavy and anything kind of fall into the same category, but they do it so well so heads off both these tracks next is normal girl. Normal girl is one of the more straightforward songs. The title is what the hook is it’s just I wish I was a normal girl. This song has a killer guitar solo some great live instrumentation which this record doesn’t really have too much of. It’s a really good song it’s one of the heavier songs just wanting to be excepted and hoping that this lover of hers is proud of her and her friends are proud of her or proud of her lover, so to say, and same with the lovers parents, and she just wants to be excepted acceptance is another thing that this record goes over a lot and it doesn’t really well and it just deals with insecurities and things that everyone goes through adding amazing point in a songwriting stance and this song is just that in a little bottle and it’s now amazing fun four minutes song but then if you really sit down and listen to it, it’s a lot to listen to you because of the concept of the record the concept of the song it’s a really emotional song and I can’t be surprised if this is one of her most important songs in her personal life if I have to guess I’ve never met her. I don’t know what she’s like, but you know I can only imagine what this song says probably some significance , but I’m just guessing now we go to pretty Little birds pretty little birds has an Isaiah Rashad feature another TDE member on this record Kendrick was on it earlier obviously Isaiah Rashad is now on it now they’ve worked together before I think they’ve worked together about four or five times now. I don’t know. I don’t know Isaiah Rashad‘s discography that well. I just know he’s got like two or three songs with it which is really cool and their chemistry because a Family songs have been on together is really goddamn good his feature is really cool how he comes in how they have these vocal effects on him. He just sounds really crazy and it just is like this epic type of field and it’s just awesome . It’s a really cool song and you know what SZA talking about on the record it’s really goddamn good you know she’s talking about how this person means. Every word or pretty little birds you mean everywhere do you mean every word in this song to me? It’s just a really really good song about confessing love you know how she wants to shave off all her hair or take out I forget but something about her hair and letting you lay in her hair and it’s just really impactful and really goddamn good and pretty. Little birds is a song I’d like to know whether I feel like probably there are a lot of R&B artist out there trying to replicate the song, but it pretty consistently failed because it’s hard to replicate because it’s so goddamn good it’s kind of like with Quadeca and the hive mind Fanbase trying to copy his sound because it’s so unique and it’s so goddamn good but it’s so hard to do that you can’t really do it unless if you have a lot of practice in order, holy amount of talent this song is absolutely gorgeous and it gets me through many things as I talked about earlier I went through a little bit of a depression, but this record kind of saved me from it you know just listen to this song really cheered me up and it really made me feel good even though the sun was kind of like about the exact opposite of what I was feeling but it was still like something that just was so unique and it’s just so good and it’s maybe in my opinion not my favorite song but like the best songs, I think that this might be her best song ever the production is absolutely gorgeous and it’s at track on like no other. It’s amazing amazing amazing Pop music. Now we go to the outro The outro it’s another acoustic track like the intro. The Autre was talking about getting older still looking for control and it’s definitely the most emotional song every time I listen to this song it always hits me somewhere , you know she’s just saying ain’t got nothing. Nothing but love I’m running from here how have I gotten to this place? I’m basically 30 now now at this time writing this she’s about 34 I think I’m not sure that this song is absolutely gut wrenching and just so goddamn sad and it’s really real and I will not be excited to be you know pushing 30 and then when I’m pushing 30 I don’t want to be in a state that she how she’s feeling because it’s like a place to be at 2829 I have some time till then, so I count my lucky stars and pray that I have a very good career but I wish I have confidence for but I’m getting too much into my personal Life to get back into this song. It’s absolutely gorgeous and it wraps up this records concept so perfectly as it takes about control, it talks about you know your power in your life and you’re just another love you have an everything that this record goes off of this song specifically finishes up perfectly and it’s just a perfect perfect outro and it’s something like no other and every time I listen to this album I always gets so sad at the end of it because why it’s over until 20 something it’s just such a gut wrenching song and it’s many times I can listen to it I can never get over how? Goddamn Saturdays but it’s so goddamn good and it’s perfect. This album is perfect. There’s not any complaints I have about it. The sequencing is beautiful. The vocals are beautiful. The production is beautiful. Everything is beautiful. I can’t ask for anything more from the Pop album and I’m sad to see that I think her music is not at the point I said is then now I think her newest album wasn’t nearly as good and she still has some songs that cover these topics very well like blind him but still it’s just not the same but it’s still great music will always hold a special place in my heart, and this album may be the most important album for me ever , I don’t know that but it’s just so goddamn good and I highly recommend listening to some. Few have not heard it. The people have turned it on to have immediately fallen in love with her music and have you know became really big fans of hers and it’s people that you wouldn’t expect it’s these kind of like you know frat boy kids they don’t know too much about music but then when you talk about scissoring that girl in the whole rent yes she is a huge popstar but like you know it’s like they really like your music and you would think all they only like future and Young Thug and that stuff and for them to go yeah I really like SZA like this. It’s really cool. And it makes me really happy because I can bond with her music with basically any of my peers maybe not to the level of knowledge I have a better music but still you know it’s perfectly fine this record encapsulates, insecurities and problems. everyone has and does it perfectly separating his feet for Pop music standards, and it goes under the radar a lot This album is a must listen it is an absolute fit for main stream pop/R&B and yeah that’s kind of what I gotta say that’s my two cents on the album. Thank you for reading this post. It really means a lot to me getting 100 followers and very thankful about it Yeah, this is great. This website is great thank you very much.
