stunning. kinda lost me in the middle but came back strong in the end with some of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album
blown away by the quality of this. just fucking phenomenal wow. i liked their album last year but damn bro they cooked
keep glazing
my only complaint is that some of these songs are drawn out way too long (perverts, housofpsychoticwomn, pulldrone) and it sort of kills the project's energy. i also wish a lot of these tracks had more substance. while i enjoyed housofpsychoticwomn, the last half where it's just the same phrase repeated over and over ad nosum did kill the mood. i wound up getting sick of it near the end and wishing i could skip ahead to the next track. but songs like punish and amber waves are so ... read more
nothing really happens for 37 minutes aside from the singer meandering around saying the same thing over and over or going dah dah dah
busy woman is easily the best addition to this deluxe. wtf is up with the mixing on the dolly parton song by the way lol
As always, the instrumentation is great. The best track here is Microphone; unfortunately, nothing compares to it. This is similar to their first LP, where 'Rule 4' was (and still is) the best song they've ever made, and nothing else in their discography holds a candle to its perfection. Mentors is in no way a bad album, I found the songwriting decent and I've always found the story behind this artist to be unique and interesting, but something feels... missing, in a lot of ... read more
Solid the whole way through. There wasn't a single song I disliked, I liked them all roughly the same. This isn't up there with Ten but it has its moments. The last song got to me a bit, not sure why. I'd say this is one of the most consistent albums Pearl Jam has ever made.
we're so back chat
This feels like what The Top was trying to go for--an attempt to shake up their sound while retaining the elements that make them unique and interesting. While their previous album went way too far off the deep end into being... well, kind of shit, this one's great. Two of my favorite Cure songs are on here (In Between Days and A Night Like This).
The vocals are clean and in my opinion, some of the best we've had so far in their discography. The Cure feels ... read more
I wouldn't go so far as to call this album abhorrent, but damn, it sort of just sucks. While there are some cool elements in the production—such as the war beats, drums, and a wide range of different instruments—nothing comes together cohesively. The vocals are reminiscent of their debut in all the wrong ways. The tracks themselves fail to stand on their own. Gonna be honest, this doesn't even feel that experimental. It just drones on and on after the second track and ... read more
