Sugary, glitzy, manufactured 80s pop music... and I love it! The non-singles are a tad forgettable, but it makes up for it with iconic singles like "I Should Be So Lucky" and "Turn It into Love".
It's not for me, personally, but you can really tell she put a lot of her into making this album and I can still appreciate that even if I probably won't be coming back to it anytime soon.
"Remember you" is a bit of an odd-one-out in Ayu's discography as it marked the biggest gap between album releases in her career. The 18th album of her career, it came nearly 7 years after the release of her previous full-length record "M(A)DE IN JAPAN", as well as almost 5 years after her last project, the 2018 EP "TROUBLE." With how much Ayu has achieved in her discography, it would be understandable if she just kept touring without releasing new music, but to ... read more
This album is very unique in her discography; there’s not much else in it that sounds like it… which is a shame bcuz this is probs my fav namie album! It is true that this feels more like a TK ft. Namie Amuro project but that isn’t surprising considering how this is only her second album without the Super Monkey’s. It’s so quintessentially nineties in the most delightful way possible and it makes you feel like you’re going on a trip from start to finish
VERY rough around the edges but there are some really good ideas. The execution is a bit of a mixed bag but I can at least say it’s not a boring album to listen to. If anything, it’s very charming and sweet to look back on an era where Namie was just about getting started with her solo career and appreciate how far she has come since then.
I do wish they had kept the original single mixes on the album rather than the remixed album versions (the Body Feels EXIT remix’s intro ... read more
It has its good moments but overall it lacks direction… literally just something sweet for the kids. I will say TOKIO is amazing and UNICORN Intro needs a full length version!
this album is all the more impressive when you remember this was her SOPHOMORE record!! she was only less than 2 years into her career and she had already released what i believe to be the japanese bible of pop. if that isn’t testament to ayu’s artistry, then idk what is!
groundbreaking debut album that solidified tomochin as the japanese queen of pop. “dear j” is literally one of the best songs of all time
