Really nice duo of tracks from @Toxxicat (Fauxroot)'s other project, with both songs having a similar vibe of a chill evening sunset atmosphere. However, the first (Sun) is a bit of some indie-pop mixed with electronic dance music and ambient, but is quite hopeful-sounding and upbeat. Compared to that, the second track is more ambient, lo-fi hip-hop, still with some indie-ish bits too. It's slow, with beautiful major seventh harmonies and very tasteful overlapping melodies that create ... read more
Really pretty, atmospheric guitar-driven dream-pop-esque track from @Toxxicat, with great overlapping melodies, solid drums and lots of potential. The build does work well, but I'd love it to progress just a tad more, maybe. Still a really, really great debut single, especially as a demo. :D
A seriously beautiful record, with wonderful lyrics, gorgeous guitar-work and tear-jerking vocals. The meaning and context behind Theo is itself so amazing and the album for sure exceeded those high expectations. After around two weeks I've still got 'Two Headed Shadow' strumming away in my head; it blows my mind how a song so introspective, stunning and heartwarming can be so catchy and replayable.
So yeah, this is phenomenal, and the only thing keeping it from clawing closer ... read more
WOOAHHHH. This is a journey and a half.
Thank you so much @Toxxicat for this rec, wow I'm so grateful you found this hidden gem.
This album feels so menacing, dangerous and chaotic, but has some of the most stunning moments I may have ever listened to. The climaxes that this guy can make are just phenomenal, and the orchestral elements are simply perfect. I adore the electronic parts, and the production is just executed absolutely flawlessly, shown on DNA, DATURA and SMOKE AND WATER. ... read more
Woah this is kinda crazy. It's super atmospheric and spacey and really quite beautiful at some points. I just closed my eyes and sat down and just experienced this album, which I think helped through some parts that would have dragged on a little bit if I was listening to it with utmost attention. Even then, there were occasions where it did seem to repeat the same thing for a very long time, even if that thing repeating was very pleasant, it did get a little dragging. I really enjoyed the ... read more
Thanks to @Toxxicat for the rec! This was a really, really cool album, like the actual word 'cool' fits so well. The riffs were super, the atmosphere is perfect for a space-themed rock/metal album, the electronic elements were really well implemented and not only added to the immersion, but just provided some great melodies and accompanying timbre to the massive sound of this record. I love the space theme in general and space-related metaphors in this LP. The lyrics don't get ... read more
Ok, it's not awful. Mostly. A bit more mainstream-sounding than I would have liked, but I still enjoy lots of aspects. 'Emptiness Machine' and 'Heavy Is The Crown' are still great, and so is 'Two Faced' and 'Good Things Go'. I think it's a perfectly acceptable comeback, and I enjoy the vocals of Emily and Mike, and their moments together. However, the songs I mentioned are only really the ones that stood out to me, although the others ... read more
Yeah this is so fucking awesome!
I adore this sound form Vylet Pony. It's so different to the more indie/pop/dubstep records, and for me is a step up. Crazy the quality of these recent albums, especially being released in such a short time.
This is my favourite song of all time! I'm so so excited for the album coming later this month! This is truly an epic, with its scale, immersion, world-building and an outstanding cover. It takes you on a journey through space and although it's a proggy rock/indie rock/orchestral mix it does flow like classical music. Amazing.
