Well I still like that last album with Voodoo but this one is just one note... almost literally. It's slow, plodding, down-tuned, boring. Awake was the big single but it could be swapped with almost any of their other singles and I wouldn't notice. On the upside, at least its consistent.
Well they finally got to the sound that I'm used to hearing from the group. They still didn't have much in the way of catchy melodies or hooks or anything but nothing sound terrible either.
I remember a few friends and me went to Walmart fairly often and would buy 3 CDs that we all wanted so we could burn each other copies. One particular visit we got Metallica self-titled, the G'n'R Use Your Illusion compilation and this album. This collection is still the prime example of AC/DC music I point to. It only has a song or two that don't maintain the energy. If live collections aren't your thing just use this as a reference for a greatest hits playlist.
