There are def some things to like here!! It has good and creative production, some neat passages grabbed from various genres which work well within the bands sound, and some pretty powerful performances particularly on the vocals. Sadly the lyrics are fine at best, and while they're always certainly impassioned, they never feel particularly inspired.
Sung by Thomas Hawtin, the immediate draw of "Pitchfork Libra" is its vocals: an eclectic, evocative and sometimes esoteric vocabulary is performed by one of the most the quirky and occasionally downright silly voices that certainly I've heard. Don't be fooled, though, as even at its most absurd - and it isn't always - Erotic Secrets of Pompeii uses its theatrics to talk about such worthy topics as death, divinity and love, and this bathos is one of the album's ... read more
Even with its soaring, arrogant highs, "Egotrip" isn't afraid to be pensive and reflect either. Excellently produced samples sit just below the utterly expressive performances of John michel, and intelligent and impassioned writing is punctuated by leitmotif-esque lyrical callbacks which serve to amplify the album's themes of faith and flattery.

"Douar Nevez" is a fantastic balancing act: it manages to juggle pensive, sombre ambience with funky and sometimes powerful rock and jazz elements. Need I mention anything more than that "Mort et immersion de malguen/Fin du voyage" has a joint electric guitar/bagpipe solo?
