unironically the only musical act to date—not that I've listened to a lot of music...—that reminds me of The Microphones/Mount Eerie, in a VERY good way: emphasis on atmosphere to further communicate ideas, exploration of the lengths you can go with sound and also no sound from which you hear with your set of ears, epic and long-winded (/pos) songs, the audacity to expose that feeling of a certain kind of rawness and weirdness of being in this world. my god I love music

music that lets me know that contemplating your life and shaking your ass are not activities that are mutually exclusive

didn't emotionally resonate with this and definitely not among my favorites in PWE's body of work, I don't know why. as bad as I feel saying this maybe it's the addition of julie doiron? if you were to ask me, for the songs that they reprised here, which versions do I prefer among all the other versions, I wouldn't say it's the one from this album for any of it

while it's a bit monotonous, when I listen to this album I think of fairy lights and not wanting to go home, going through a night that I never want to end

it gets even better everytime I listen to it. there's always something new to take notice of—how karly hartzman's voice works so well in each and every song, constantly transforming and not staying in one place, the distorted bass, the bitterness and the sweetness of the melody, the abrupt change of direction in some songs and how it takes you to unexpected places, and on and on and on

I put off listening to this album for so long, padahal gw udah aware sama album ini (dan BCNR) sejak rame pas rilisnya tahun 2022. barulah setelah Iman muterin Nancy Tries to Take the Night pas jemput gw di Jakarta, April 2025 lalu, that I'd been slowly turned into a goner. what a DELIGHT! musikalitas dan lirisisme fantastik yang membangunkan imaji-imaji vivid nan, kerapnya, gut-wrenching, dan I don't know if this is the right word or not, euphoric
