jaw droppingly beautiful, and heart shattering in the context of sakamoto's career. minimalism at its finest
yeah yeah, im only just now listening to deathconsciousness, go ahead and revoke my online music virgin pass. jokes aside this was incredible unsurprisingly. earthmover is definitely an all timer.
A Crow Looked at Me has been my favourite album for as long as I can remember—funnily enough, it's taken me quite a long time to pinpoint exactly why the album strikes the chord it does with me, as its subject matter isn't exactly something that's been wholly relevant to my life quite yet. Despite this, it's quite possibly one of, if not the most emotionally stirring piece of music I've ever engaged with. I think it's because this album speaks to something ... read more
prob my favorite release hes dropped this year. its bogged down by some unfinished sounding tracks (i dont like this new thing bones is doing where half the song is just the first half of the song but sped up or slowed down) but the productions great and its cool to see him experiment with cadence a bit on songs like 101grams (even tho he lowkey sounded like future from temu).
took me a stupid long time to get to this especially considering how up my alley it is. super consistent and has some of the best production ive heard on a cloud rap tape. loved it
i get the appeal for this sort of music but i think i just need to accept the fact that the more three 6 mafia/phonk adjacent music bones has been making these past few years just isnt my thing. it feels kind of derivative and lacking in what made bones an interesting artist to begin with, like he used to create trends in the underground and now it feels like hes just following them. unlike his last project this is way more well made and has a coherent aesthetic at the very least so i give him ... read more
always thought the soundtrack for this movie was fantastic but never actually sat down and listened to it in full until now. im going to look like such an eva glazer with this score, but im astounded with how amazingly this works as a stand alone experience. even removing any connotations with the series, this is a straight up masterpiece in modern classical music. one of the few albums where after i listened to it a struggled to wrap my head around the fact that human beings made it, some of ... read more
aside from me finding the music not that great im really disappointed with how bones has handled the xavier wulf situation. continuing to associate with a dog beating domestic abuser and featuring him on your albums after that whole pr move of unfollowing him on social media makes you look soooo much more disingenuous and shitty. and to top it all off, he didnt even give us the courtesy of getting us a good feature, it was dogshit. eddy baker is fat btw
i don't care for every track but on the nature of daylight is one of the most beautiful songs ive heard
i knew nothing about this ep before listening and man what a pleasant surprise. obviously i didnt quite enjoy this the way i would with other music but it does what it sets out to do perfectly and is completely and utterly unnerving. thomas ligotti is one of my favorite writers and his philosophy is obviously all over this thing. this brand of nihilism and anti natalism could easily come off as try hard or edgy but he always presents it in an engaging and artful way, particularly in his ... read more
