The wait is over, and yeah, it's fucking ace alright. Heartwrenching, yet more genius work from a totally singular artist who remains peerless in her field.
For years I've been declaring Madison the best singer-songwriter working today to anyone who'll listen, and hopefully this album is what makes everyone understand why. Lyrical elegance and musical poetry, her compositional craft is more refined, bleeding with painful sincerity and vulnerability brought on by the album's ... read more

Gets better and better with each listen. Its closeness to Imaginal Disk in both its sound and release date probably caused me to underappreciate it a bit as it's not as ambitious or conceptual as Mag Bay's glitzy, maximalist and endlessly lauded odyssey of death and romance. But there's something particularly special about Brazilian quartet PLUMA and their more measured approach which allows them to really show off their abilities both individually and as a pop band. ... read more
Im kind of a mark for this type of thing, and it's still Kali Uchis which is why the score isn't thaaat low, but upon re-listen this album sounds nice but man does it drag. The songs I did save initally i haven't re-visited once. You look past the lush production and good vocals and the songwriting is unusually sauceless for her. And the tracklist is bloated, with too many filler songs that sound exactly like at least one other. Soul on auto-pilot
RAAAAA I LOVE SOFT ROCK, I LIKE INTRICATE CHORD PROGRESSIONS AND CLOSE VOCAL HARMONIES SET TO GENTLE AND LUSH INSTRUMENTATION
i liked the AR EP when it came out, more than most others, even. it was derivative but had a fun energy and personality. this full-length debut just feels derivative and watered down to the point of total anonymity.
nothing sticks, most of the instrumentals sound the exact same; everything from the production to the lyrics to the singing is just lazy. like, no range or contrast to the vocals throughout whatsoever.
it feels like it's drawing from Y2K pop but specifically the stuff that ... read more
The first were two singles were extremely mid and had me worried, but they don't reflect the rest of the album in quality or sound, really. This is dripping with a little 80s but mostly 70s nostalgia, with a even balance of lowkey cuts and energetic bops reminiscent of ELO, Fleetwood Mac, Beatles and the likes. I was expecting a whole tracklist of safe radio fodder, and honestly after the global sensation that was End of Beginning last year I wouldn't blame him. But I'm glad Djo ... read more
Magical. My contempt for Isaac's contribution pre-departure aside, the rest of the band has come into their own forged a new identity swiftly and confidently. The songs are more prog-influenced and harmonically complex, which better shows off the members' individual and collective abilities. And despite more intricate arrangements, the parts feel much more congruent with one another, and the unbearable pretentiousness of Isaac's writing that kneecapped previous albums is ... read more
Juan Berdugo continues to demonstrate talent well beyond his years with another ethereal, beautifully crafted post-rock album. Go give it a listen!
first, this is literally a complete, new whole LP why the hell is she calling it a deluxe 😠not only is SOS a deluxe album in length already, i also just don't want to be reminded of that sadistic torture experiment full stop.
the production is much more interesting here, a big improvement. with some of her most memorable instrumentals. but as usual, any potentially good songs are ruined by juvenile writing and her weak, aggravating vocal delivery (Saturn starts off so good and then ... read more
