Lambrini Girls - Who Let the Dogs Out
75

The negative reviews are just criticizing the band for exactly what they set out to do. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it’s highly effective—the compositions are heavy and dynamic, and the vocalist is excellent in this style

Les Hay Babies - Tintamarre
77

J'attendais depuis longtemps un album comme ça des Hay Babies. Country/folk/rock maîtrisé, accrocheur et festif. Ça va rouler en masse de mon bord!

P'tit Belliveau - P'tit Belliveau
70

P'tit Belliveau a écouté beaucoup de 100 gecs, mettons.

Early Moods - A Sinner's Past
78

proto doom worship, pure fun. of course it's a crowded scene at this point but this release certainly puts Early Moods at the front of the pack.

Yard Act - Where's My Utopia?
77

the lyrics and the vocal delivery is still the main argument for Yard Act. on a more personal level, i feel there's some ''grit'' missing from the instrumentation, but especially the production, on a lot of songs on there, that holds me from rating it higher for today.

Lucifer - Lucifer V
80

great vocals, and manages to find quite a few creative riffs ideas along the way. that's welcome in this kind of crowded niche genre.

Sheer Mag - Playing Favorites
78

as usual with Sheer Mag, this is fun and catchy power pop with hooky 70s hard rock fueled guitar playing. that's what it is, and i think it's well enough. this does overstay its welcome a bit. i feel a 25-30 min album would fit this kind of songwriting better.

Klô Pelgag - Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs
88

Her best album by far. Displays more than ever a deep and profound maturity as a songwriter. Keeps the freak folk-ish vibes that made her such a unique presence in the Quebec scene, this time with rich, diverse and continually surprising instrumentations. The result is an amazing art-pop album, that captivates from start to finish.
