I need to stop putting off albums when I first discover them. I’ve been seeing this album cover, and known of Ecco since around 2022. Even before I knew who Bladee or Drain Gang was. Yet for some reason I never checked it out. Until I randomly saw the cover again, and decided to listen to this for the first time at like 3 in the morning. And WOW. I regret never listening to this when I first became aware of it.
I was actually kinda blown away by this album. Its atmosphere is out of this world. The production is so ethereal and liminal. It makes me feel like I’m walking through a foggy dystopian city. And Ecco’s drowned in reverb vocals, match it perfectly. I just can’t get over the soundscapes on here. I love how at times it’s a bit ambient and very relaxing. But then a few of the later tracks become a little more jarring and loud. But while still not straying too far away from the main focus, and staying consistent enough to the rest of the project. Also enjoyed how short it was. Every track really played its part, and of course there was not a dull or uninteresting moment. Overall, I absolutely loved this album, and I’m sure with time I’ll love it even more.
I might have just found a new artist to obsess over. I love Ecco’s style, and I find it to be so unique and interesting. I will DEFINITELY be checking out his other work. Especially the collab project with Bladee!
