For how much I enjoy other classic albums, this listen was a surprise to say the least. Despite Nas shining with his incredible lyricism and flow, I don't really enjoy some of the songs too much because the production is too laid back and boring. I understand giving him space to rap, and it works in some aspects but I feel like the project could've had more interesting production, especially because the other half of the tracks are generationally great listens.
It's good music but it's not interesting music. That's the sentence I would use to sum up Ye's 12th studio album, Bully. It's definitely better than the music he's been releasing these past 4 years or so, but I feel as if many people are misunderstanding good music for not slop. While this album does have its highs, many songs feel unfinished and uninspired leading to a messy listening experience. It's a step in the right direction, but not a big one.
Its one of the most revolutionary albums of all times, essentially creating trap music, but the tracks can really drone on at times and it's just not at the same standards of other Kanye albums.
Although having its ups and downs, this is a great debut album with a solid concept, and well the highs are really high. You can definitely see in this album that he had the potential to make a gkmc or a tpab.
A great victory lap from Kanye and Jay-Z following the incredible success of MBDTF. All of the production and verses are standard, my only real issue with the album is that it feels somewhat substanceless, as all they talk about is how great they are.
