Great, versatile production from Metro Boomin, but Big Sean doesn't really have much to say. Opener "Light" and more ambitious tracks on the tail end scratch the surface of poorly-thrown together thoughts (although "Voice in My Head" is a bold, if cluttered, expression of fears of failure). B4.DA.$$ is the third release and first label release of East Coast rapper Joey Bada$$, part of Pro Era and the Beast Coast crew. In Holiday 2012, best friend to Joey and promising up-and-coming rapper, Capital Steez killed himself. The production on Wave[s] is handled by ThemPeople and Kaytranada. It's a blast to listen to. Incredibly layered with interesting synths and some really good drums. A lot of songs here have a kind of "Down on My Luck" vibe but there are also some strong Chi-town send ups like the trumpets and jazz on "Slumber"
