Getting it out of the way, the weakest track is Regret.
It’s a rhythmic album, with incredible percussion. You can feel how this leads into FTBC. Frenetic and raw and painfully honest.
An emotional experience. Side A is much stronger than Side B; Rewind / So I / Mean Girls are not strong tracks.
It's standard good folk, a foundation for their incredible next albums. The ending is incredible - The Truth Is a Cave leading perfectly into The Valley (Reprise) leading into a quote from Come Thou Font Of Every Blessing is so stunningly emotional. A pity that the middle sections aren't that interesting.
It's a good album, and Black Hole Fantasy is one of their best tracks. I don't think River Rushing fits where it's at.
As unique as FTBC; every song has the same rabid energy that drives the album as a whole. Personal favourite songs include rosemary and bury me.
There is no other album like FTBC, not even Fiona’s old albums. It is singular and spectacular.
I think Side D > Side A > Side B > Side C
It’s bloody electric. One of the greatest video game soundtracks of all time, easily.
Better than I remember. A strong start, and a slightly weaker end, but sonically very interesting and much more emotional than I expected.
It does have some of the best songs in the anemoi cycle, but it lacks a certain something that eurus has.
The run of Dry Branches into Hieroglyphs is an incredible rush, with O Sleeper and Passerine like bookends. My least favourite component, personally, is Grow.
I guess I just love this / but New River is a comparatively weak ending in my opinion. Notos is an incredible song, though.
Everyone else is wrong. The lyricism is outstanding and the tracklist is highlight after highlight.
It's an album themed around sin and the end of the world, presented in folk. What more could anyone want?
The entire Side A is pretty much flawless. I really think the weakest run is the epilogue after Dear Wormwood, from Danse Macabre to Thus Always To Tyrants.
No complaints. An incredible soundscape, with what I feel is the right mix of interesting slower pieces and more up-tempo tracks.
Similar to Bewitched, but more focused, and a lot more playful. My biggest problem with the album is probably the run of A Cautionary Tale into Mr. Eclectic, and the lack of truly stand-out songs the whole way. The bonus track is fantastic.
Sabotage as an album-ender is incredible.
Highlights: Lover Girl, Castle in Hollywood, Forget-me-Not, Clean Air, Sabotage, Seems Like Old Times
A consistently good album, if lacking anything that makes it really stand out. It does get a little repetitive (ironically, the same feelings I had towards HIFN).
Highlights: Above the Chinese Restaurant, Everything I Know About Love, Falling Behind.
