Women - Public Strain

A beautifully haunting expanse, and a constant sense of unease with every new texture.
Rest in peace Chris.

One of the greatest brutal death albums ever done, easily. Love the production, the instrumentation and grooves are relentless front to back, and it all comes together perfectly. Joe Wolfe was on fire here, stellar vocal performance all album (not to mention him recording the album *by himself*). An album that will forever be hard to beat in the genre.

The Goslings - Grandeur of Hair

An hour or so of noise rock that is *actually* quite noisy believe it or not. Fantastic album to get lost in with walls of sound mixed so aggressively and raw, and just enough structure gluing things together to keep it from all falling apart. Evil shoegaze.

Pig Destroyer - Natasha

Pig Destroyer certainly wasn't on my radar for a doom metal release, and yet they managed to take their eerie and unsettling nature I'm used to hearing in a grindcore context and work it into a monumental ambient doom track. Writing a song longer than some of your other full albums is a risky move, but man did they nail it; they managed to craft 37 minutes of sludgy slow riffing intermittent with dark ambience leaving a sense of dread and unease unlike anything else they've ... read more

Pig Destroyer - Book Burner

Book Burner is both a fun and solid listen throughout, however I feel its lacking the energy and ideas present in earlier albums. They may be retreading the same grounds as before, but it's certainly still well above average and worth returning to its 30 minute onslaught now and then.

Following up an album such as Terrifyer is truly a difficult task, and yet Pig Destroyer comes out with something that still feels fresh with expansion on ideas old and new. While some of the longer songs on the latter half tend to lose the intensity with the slower tempo and less sporadic feel, it's still very enjoyable throughout. Also very much enjoy the outro, some great fitting ambience to close it out. Overall a great album and highly recommend

Immensely fun listen with all three members pulling their weight and writing some crazy good tracks. The last four songs close out the album perfectly, with longer runtimes allowing room for the beastly sound to breathe and flesh itself out, and become even more haunting. My only gripe with the album is wishing that happened more often through the length of it, otherwise its a truly incredible grindcore release.

Had to make my first proper review an all-timer, and one of the greatest grindcore albums of all time seemed fitting. Every element from Prowler in the Yard feels improved upon, and it's a relentless thirty minute ripper with no skips. Stellar performances all around, and fantastic lyricism from J.R. Haunting, ugly, evil; it's the worst and I love it for that.
