Extremely impressive musicianship, but the songwriting is absolutely godawful. Not an enjoyable listen at all.

Pale Folklore is an album with sloppy playing, sub-par production, and wonky songwriting...and that's what makes it so good. This album sounds incredibly organic, as though it is a product of the wintry environment John Haughm sings of. The way this album makes me feel is beyond description. It is clearly not as good as The Mantle, or Ashes Against The Grain, yet it prevails as my favorite of theirs.
