Grouper - Ruins

Beautifully haunting, and powerfully heartbreaking.

Tame Impala - Deadbeat

This LP sounds like a collection of free EDM beats with Kevin Parker's vocals on top. The first song, My Old Ways, is somewhat repetitive, and that made its themes feel more powerful and made sense. It also sounded quite good, and is my favorite song here. Then, the rest of the album is somewhat repetitive, and it doesn't really make sense and doesn't feel powerful, and the production sounds weird and annoying a lot of the time.

Some songs like Oblivion and Ethereal Connection ... read more

twenty one pilots - Breach

For an album I did not have high hopes for, what a let down of a project Breach turned out to be. I felt so frustrated that I had to write what I think about this album, which is not something I usually do.

First time hearing it, I couldn't even finish half the songs. Coming back and finishing them, I realized there wasn't much to come back to. Not many songs have enough ideas to keep going, and they mostly rely on repeating choruses that aren't catchy enough to make me want to ... read more

English Teacher - This Could Be Texas

This album has some of, if not my favorite musical moments of the year. Magnific stuff.

Hidden Orchestra - Dawn Chorus

One of the best albums I've heard recently, I love the clear passion that went into designing the cool rhythms and natural soundscape.

The Smile - Wall of Eyes
82

What a fascinating project. The Smile can push the group's originality and freshness even further than their other bands. These guys haven't failed to impress, and I love the production on the songs.

The Smile - Bending Hectic

The Smile is one of the best musical projects of the last few years. So much talent, so much expressionism, so much passion.

Sungazer - Perihelion
93

This project. Oh God. I've seen people say that Adam and Shawn prepared us to hear Perihelion with their youtube channels over the years, and that's 100% true. So pristine, so new, it's really like a shining beam of light entering your eye. And yet, so jazzy. In a time where I felt disconnected with music, alone and losing my feelings for the things I loved most, Sungazer showed me the true meaning of music itself, and made me go back to music with a mind that I never had before, a new genre ... read more

Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool

Feelings of drought and emotional despair. Pristine, spacial ,and yet, really personal production. Radiohead's impressionistic poetry and rythms really stand out on A Moon Shaped Pool. This album has made me feel alive, in touch with my emotions, and music like never before.
